A lovely little book that collects a sampling of Susan’s poems over the past 35 years. Enjoyable read with relatable themes paired with Susan’s insight. Given such a long span, my only wish was have more a sense of the time they were written to get more a sense of the arc of her creative journey.

Short But Sweet

Since, I love poetry so much I’m always harder with my rating for poetry collections than other genres. With that being said I really enjoyed this collection and found myself resonating with a lot of the poems and finding many similarities in my own life with the emotions of a few of the poems. This a collection of poems centered around Susan Shultz life events & she did a beautiful job detailing her ups & downs to us. The only thing I wish was added was a timeline for us to follow so we knew what part of her life the poem was taking place.

One of my favorite poems is March and I connected to it on an emotional level because, not sure if it was her intention, but to me it describes what it feels like when you’re coming out of a depression fog, and I couldn’t have described it better than Ms. Susan did. I have more favorites, but I’ll go into more detail on my Booktube.

All in all, this was a quick but really good collection. And even though it does have its ups and downs, I would recommend this if you’re looking for a light read.
