Carol Holaday was born in Lubbock and shares her family tree with the sleeping prophet, Edgar Cayce, through her great grandmother Edna Brown. A graduate of Texas Tech University and credentialed teacher, artist and writer, Carol has long been interested in the magical aspects of folk craft traditions, particularly those that involve crystals and minerals.
Carol has written many articles on the spiritual and magical uses of crystals and stones for the international monthly online magazine, Planetlightworker, for whom she also wrote an exclusive monthly forecast called the Crystal Star Oracle. In addition, Carol has been published in Kindred Spirit, Soul & Spirit, New Connexion and Balanced Life Magazines. Young Adult literature is her passion and she is busily working on her first YA fiction novel. Currently Carol resides in San Diego, California with her husband Chris where she writes, edits, in addition to producing Awakening Zone radio shows.
While I didn't find anything new here, Holladay's book on spell crafts would be a great read for someone new to the concept of crafting with intention. Easy to read, clear instructions, and enough pictures to help clarify instructions. Heavily influenced by New Age "manifestation" thought, but does employ familiar neopagan symbols and ideas like pentacles and working with the elements.
If you are a Witch or pagan and you love making things, this is for you. It has some wonderful ideas that you can make, as they are, or adapt to your own needs. My only thing is I feel better images for guidance would be good; especially for those who are less experienced. But otherwise, a nice book.
