Mrs. Charlotte Dunbar has been widowed for longer than she was a wife, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like a good engagement or the drama of two young people coming together! Especially when she feels they just need a little help to see the match was meant to be.
Five years ago, Ginger Carlyle turned down a marriage proposal that everyone, including Jacob Noble, thought she would agree to.
Five years ago, Jacob Noble took a job in a northern California mining town that he hoped would help him to forget the love he’d left behind in Ashton. But there was no way he could forget Ginger, or his own broken heart.
Back in Ashton, Ginger has been beset by tragedy after tragedy. After her father’s death, she is the only one who can care for her ailing mother and manage the family house and land. Selling eggs and baked goods to make ends meet, Ginger and her mother survive out of sheer determination and hard work. But hard work isn’t enough when the bank comes looking for the mortgage payments. Unable to tell her mother the truth about their dire financial circumstances, Ginger will have to work even harder to make sure that their Thanksgiving holiday is as joyful as it always was when her father was alive.
However, after Ginger is accused of stealing from her new employer, her whole world is turned upside down. She's dragged to the sheriff’s office where she's shocked to discover the new deputy is none other than the very man whose proposal she turned down all those years ago. Can she trust Jacob to help prove her innocence? Or is he still harboring a grudge against her for refusing his hand in marriage?
As the past is re-visited and secrets come to light, is there hope that justice will be Ginger's in time for Thanksgiving?
International bestselling author Annee Jones writes romance that ranges from sweet to scorching, sassy to dark, contemporary to fantastical. Perfect for your coffee break or midnight escape—quick reads for wild hearts.
Outside of writing, Annee works as a disability counselor where she helps her clients navigate through complex medical and legal systems while rediscovering their wholeness in Spirit. She loves practicing Barre, relaxing in the sauna, and staying up way too late reading.
Even though this was an 80 page short read I can easily say I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I don't normally really like such short books but Annee Jones made a believer out of me.
The characters and the plot easily drew me in.
Ginger was a sweet young woman trying hard to do the right thing by her mom after her father unexpectedly passed away.
Even though she regretted not accepting a marriage proposal from Jacob whom she really loved she knew she could not leave town with him and abandon her parents.
Which ultimately ended up being a wise decision.
Because Jacob is back and more than willing much to Gingers surprise to pick up where they left off.
Even though he arrives in town just in time to help Ginger out of a bit of drama and a sticky situation.
Ginger not only gets Justice but a Happily Ever After.
This novella was extra sweet and will leave you with a smile on your face. Ginger and Jacob used to be engaged, until he took off that is. Ginger has spent her days taking care of her momma and trying any way she can to lighten the debt that was left behind by her father when he passed. When she finally gets a job at the store where she sells her pies and eggs, things are finally looking up. That is until she is accused of stealing money from the till. Is this all a big misunderstanding, or is Ginger really guilty of that. Now that Jacob is back in town, he's the one that ends up helping her. Were they forced together on purpose, or is it just dumb luck. Such a sweet story. I definitely would recommend this if you're looking for a quick, simple, in between story that is adorable.

Poor Ginger didn't think she and her mother would make ends meet. But with God's help, and some, um, help, from her friends, things could definitely change for her. What a cute Thanksgiving story!
A struggling young woman with an ailing mother, a returning lawman, a meddlesome matron, and a handsome young deputy make for a delightful misunderstanding. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. A really fun read.
This is a great read. It's a short fast read that has just the right amount of drama and romance to keep you turning the pages. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
