A beautiful novel that surprisingly is little known. It's set in the sweatshops of the Lower East Side and follows the title character through a series of evolutions that include different doses of socialism, navigating horrible working conditions, along with several love threads. The novel is well-constructed and well-written. Recommended not just as a historical document but as a good read as well.
