Five stars: I found the 50+ short, focused stories both riveting and inspirational--real people today sharing about their misfortunes (many which we can identify with or fear will happen and others which open our eyes to others’ difficult childhood experiences) and finding silver linings. They shared their painful life-impacting experiences, what they now see as silver linings, and what was most helpful in the journey. I won’t forget these people! I recommend this book both for inspiration in seeking the silver lining but also regarding clues for helping others when we often don’t know how to help. I was compelled to stay with the book, reading a number of stories at a time but the book is a good one to read in spurts since each story is different. It’s also easy to jump around to read about the situations related to specific similar subject areas—such as illness or accidents or infertility, etc. I read it on kindle but will get paperback and gift to others.

This was an outstanding collection of stories of misfortune. The range was more than I expected. I was amazed by the connection I felt to stories through the emotion, questions, and wrestling with God even though their situation was not an experience I shared. Truly amazing book showing how the human spirit and emotion is so similar in such varying circumstances. So thankful to have read this collection.

What a wonderful book of short stories. Each night prior to bed I would read a few before turning off the lights. I found myself wanting to read just one more….It was a blessing at the end of a hectic day to hear others silver linings moments. Definitely puts life in perspective. Gives you hope to keep on keeping on. I will be reaching for this from time to time remind me to look for the silver lining in my own life.

Seeking the Silver Lining is a book that is relatable to anyone. Some stories will lead you to reflect on your own life, some stories will lead you to reflect on the lives of others and some will bring you to tears of empathy and heartbreak for those that have lived the actual stories. My favorite part of the stories is how they all end with a view from the lens of hope. If you are someone who can only carve out 5 minutes a day to read or you can read for an hour, this book is for you.

As someone living with chronic illness, I recommend this hopeful book for anyone searching for faith footing in a fallen world. When we encounter stories like these that rhyme with our own, we discover that we're not nearly as alone as we often feel in our struggles. I loved the short, self-contained, story-driven format. Each one is easy to complete in a single sitting, and the stand-alone feature allows you to skip around and reread your favorites as needed for later inspiration.

For all who need hope—this book is for you. A book filled with real life struggles, painful journeys, and testimonies of God's grace. This book will bring you to tears, inspire, and encourage you. I loved all the stories but "Jessica’s Story—Broken and Blessing Others" might be my favorite. Bravo to all who contributed. Highly recommend!

The author eloquently captures the voice of individuals who have faced hardships in an unapologetically realistic delivery that is packed with emotion and ultimately hope and healing. These true stories range from dealing with challenging obstacles to experiencing extreme trauma and loss. As a reader, I was nudged to reflect on my past trials with a new lens. Seeking the Silver Lining can also prepare the reader to face challenges yet unknown. There's always room for hope in our lives and perhaps we just need a reminder of how to seek it. Thank you for sharing these stories with the world!

Loved that I could pick up this book and read a few stories at a time. So many heartbreaking events to live through, yet such resilience and hope in the aftermath.
