I've been dancing with the shadows ever since I was a little girl, and a part of me always knew they would lead me here. To this funeral of dreams, to this wickedness of souls.
There was no escape. There was no exit.
I found my hell in dark, hollow eyes, but I wasn’t ready for their violent touch. I found the devil, or maybe... Maybe he found me?
So was I a sinner now?
DIVINE VIOLENCE is a Reverse Harem prequel novella for The Dark Side of Paradise Duet, dealing with dark themes that might not be suitable for all readers. It is recommended only for readers above the age of 18.
L.K. Reid is a dark romance author who hates slow walkers and people being mean for no reason.
In her opinion, Halloween should be a public holiday, and she also has a small obsession with all things historical—especially Greek mythology. During high school, she wanted to be an archaeologist, and ended up studying law, but obviously neither one of those professions worked out.
If she isn’t writing, she’s most probably watching horror movies, listening to music, reading, or plotting upcoming books.
4.75 I wonder why Leila always manages to mess my mind up... and why I always let her 🙈🤯 Nothing with her is as it seems, and her freaking characters don’t really know how to love or being loved in a normal way. I mean knives are always involved 🤣🤣 Don’t get me wrong, I love it but complaining about it makes me feel better, seen as I have to wait next year to know what happens next. 😒
The beginning of this novella was a bit confusing for me because many things were left purposely untold, but it doesn’t stop me from reading it 'cause it was intriguing ... and OMFG in the end it was freaking amazing!!! Totally messed up but still a hell of ride 😏😏
This was my first read from this author and it won't be my last!
Oh my gosh, this was only 100 something pages and such a wild ride. It takes a little bit for the story to pick up, but once the scene is set and the character is made clear to the reader, it really takes off.
And that's before the spice kicked in. omfg. I love it when the men get it on with each other while getting it on with the FMC.
But then the ending?! This was a solid introduction for a revenge/bullying/suspense dark series. I can't wait for the main series to start!
I absolutely loved this story I had the opportunity to beta read this and I inhaled this quick little read! It’s dark it’s twisted and steamy hot it’s everything I love about a L.K. Reid novel! My mind was blown I can’t wait for the sequel!
Dark and full of twist and turns who’s the hero and who’s the villain? Seems all is definitely not what it really is.
Echo the Sparrow bringing 3 men to their knees. They thought they could bring her to an island and make her their maiden. Little did they know the woman that they chose, was out for revenge on all 3 of them.
This woman knows how to play the game and not let the game play her, that is until 10 years go by and they want their revenge.
Absolutely loved this short novella getting us ready for the novel to come, sets up the story perfectly, gives you a little backstory without giving to much away, has the perfect amount of spice, games and darkness to make your night end right and definitely wanting more!
This woman every time.!! Just every time gets me. 😆 😈 ☠️
Divine Violence 0.5 - prequel novella for The Dark Side of Paradise Duet.
“Burn them. Burn them, little one. Burn the wicked ones.”
If you have read L.K books you will know nothing is as it seems. You will never predict the outcome of the stories she writes. This woman keeps you on your toes. On the edge of your seat with everything she writes. Divine Violence is no different. She did it again, she pissed me off, gave me something then ripped it away.! Will I forgive her… maybe in time for the first book to come out lol.
Even for a novella it gives your all the feels you crave when reading L.K’s books. Them feelings you might not like but we crave them.
“I was as far from okay as one person could be, but I couldn’t say that out loud.”
Echo looses her family at a young age. When her family died she was just left to the system.
Now older, she’s ready to leave her old life behind and to finally move on. It’s her last night in Ignis but just before she leaves she gets an invitation to a party.
That where she meets Alexander, Dominic and Kairos. They are royalty. They come from the most powerful families. These man have a bond like no other. LK IS A TEASE.! 😈 the vibe I get is mmfm and rh. If the first book gives me what I want for these men I will be very happy.
Alexander is the guy that follows all the rules. The sweet one, the one that followed the rules. But it’s always the sweet ones you don’t see coming. Dominic is the one that needs guidance and he gets that from Kairos. Out of all the guys I would say he pulled me in more than the others. I love a damaged man lol. Kairos is the alpha. He’s also the one who invited Echo the the party.
Not everyone is as it seems. Look closer.
This novella will leave you guessing, there is lots of unanswered questions, lots of secrets and men wanting revenge. I can’t wait for book 1.
“Constantly stuck in the limbo between being a sinner or a saint, I had no idea which part of me was real anymore.”
Echo came into the story as a damaged lost soul, and soon you came to realize that things aren’t always what they seem.
Dominic, Alexander and Kairos were the devils in disguise.
Dominic and Echo knew each other at a young age. But they definitely learn that they don’t know each other like they used to. They feel the connection but neither are sure what exactly their connection is…is it love or hate?
Alexander was the cinnamon roll of the trio. He fell into her trap, He tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Will he be soft and gentle with her now that what’s done is done?
And Kairos was the master but soon he was shown that he really was never the master. He was the puppet all along.
This book was full of twists. And I can’t wait to continue…
“Were we truly the heroes or were we the villains in this story?”
Oh man! What did I just read? This little novella comes packing with a punch!!!
Echo Selene Selke is lost. Having absolutely no one left in her life to love and be loved in return, her self destruction is at an all time high. Everyone she knew has been killed and as she looses herself in the shadows her hatred for artificial people of this town that just destroy others to get ahead is quickly imploding. On her last night in her group home, she is invited to the annual Samhain celebration. One of the most prestigious celebrations on Hallows Eve...
"A young fool looking for paradise in the dark night where only sinners and villains lived. A young fool, hopeful that someone, someday, would take me away from this madness swarming inside my head."
Meeting Alexander Hale and Kairos Adair and being reacquainted with Dominic Talon - something snaps in Echo and we soon realize our innocent, distraught, melancholy girl is not what she seems. When the guys originally invited Echo, they thought she could be their Maiden. The glue to keep them in line and keep them holding strong, together. How wrong they were. The night unfolds into blood and truths and soon Echo is the only one left standing.
With secret societies, The Triumvirat seems like it is coming to an end. The Order of Themis seems like they aren't dolling out every little truth Echo may need, but she is blinded by their family orientation she craves. 10 years later in our epilogue when Echo seems to be content with her life, she realizes how stupid of a choice it all was.
"The Maiden and the wolves. Are you ready to play the game, little sparrow?
I was enraptured by this book! It was a quick read and I am desperate for the next one! I thought the direction of the book was going to be so much different, BUT then the author throws a major curveball and JUST KIDDING... Our girl was the wolf the entire time! I am SO ready to see how this story all unfolds!!
*Overall 5/5 *Heat? 3/5 (More to come) *Multiple first person POV *Light MM *Secret societies *Ends on cliffhanger
(I'm rating up because I would actually rate this a 3.5. For my rating scale that is basically, I really enjoyed this book, but I wouldn't reread it. However I want to mention, this is a prequel novella and I am extremely interested in the remainder of this series!)
Talk about a quick ride.
This was such a quick and intense ride.
This is the first thing I have read from this author and a huge thank you to Julia Murray PA & the author for sending this ARC for an honest review.
This started a bit slow for me, but not in a bad way. I found the pacing here to match the overall theme and it created the perfect atmosphere and vibe for the book. I was instantly hooked even though I'm not usually a detailed reader. There wasn't much dialogue for the first bit of the book, something I usually don't like and yet... here it was perfectly used.
Without spoiling, there were so many twists and turns that I honestly couldn't put the book down. What I thought I knew, and at times when I thought the FMC was crazy and the story was going off track, it's just because I didn't know the full picture.
I absolutely loved the ending. It was spooky and haunting and I'm really excited to see what happens next in the series. For a prequel novella, this is exactly what I needed to give me a little insight into this story and the characters.
Overall, I found this to be a great quick read to keep you on the end of your seat with spice that wasn't overdone. It had a spice in all the right places that made sense to the plot.
Divine violence by L.K Reid ✨ARC Book Review✨ Rating: 4.5/5 Releasing: 10/29/2022
“Monsters were real. They were real back then and they were real now. The only difference was that now they knew how to hide their true faces better.”
I do not know how to describe this book! It was truly amazing! Highly recommend reading!
This book blew my mind. It starts off with Echo a girl who lost her family and everyone she loved. At the beginning you can see how much that affects her and how she wished she could move on. Then later in the story you see a totally different side of her that I didn’t see coming! And the ending… OMG! Cannot wait to see what happens with Echo and the guys!
I honestly got some Mindf*ck vibes in this book! So if you loved the Mindf*ck series you should definitely check this book out!
Blurb:
"Were we the sum of our sins?"
She dances with the devil daily in her soul, she screams internally for all she has lost, she is not the lamb they believe her to be. No one understands how much there violent delights will lead to a violent end in this society of madness but it’s time for these three monsters to meet their match….
This novella was far from what I was expecting, while being everything and more I didn’t know I needed. I want to give absolutely nothing away and leave everything up in the air, going in blind for this book I believe is in everyone’s best interest.
This is a rollercoaster of twist and turns that will leave you absolutely baffled at every page, personally I’m not sure I knew what was going on the whole time. Characters are explained to us one way and morph into something else you never see coming.
I not only enjoyed every second of this book but I crave just a couple more chapters immediately. It takes a certain kind of author to be able to grip someone this hard with a short novella, let alone a novella that leaves this many unanswered questions and mystery left unsolved. To say I’m salivating for the next book is a understatement, pretty sure I mentally won’t know peace till then!!!
Description: Why choose novella; prequel to a series that comes out next year.
Cryptic messages. Storylines that do not make sense. Twists randomly popping up. What do these have in common? The new novella by L.K. Reid! No description will be provided as to the plot.

L.K. Reid is a very underrated author. In this, she gives us a story that zigs, and then suddenly zags and you’re left thinking, “What the f*ck just happened?” I love when a story provides that kind of impact. As someone who reads a lot, if I’m left with my mouth agape after reading a scene, that’s compliments to the chef right there, because not a lot surprises me. With that said, go into this blind. Download it, buy it, sell your soul to the devil to get to read this - I don’t care. This is going to be the start of a really great series - I can already feel it.
My compliments to Chef L.K. for a tasty snack well prepared.
OMG! This was an absolutely thrilling, incredibly entertaining and utterly delicious dark novella/prequel story. If this is just a little bit of the backstory to the full-length book to come – I for one, cannot wait!!!
The story was insanely emotional, dragging out feelings from me right from the start and making me tear up learning about Echo and her tragic past. But then things start to get twisted, and Echo slowly starts to show her true colors. Now I don’t know what to think and my mind is completely blown away. Nothing – and I mean nothing – is what it seems.
Brilliantly written little snippet that had my head all messed up, my heart beating out of my chest and my jaw dropping continually. I loved it and can’t wait for the full story.
Divine Violence is a dark why choose novella prequel, setting the stage for The Dark Side of Paradise duet. What an exciting, action packed novella! It has such a gripping storyline, full of plot twists and shocking turns I didn’t see coming. It’s fast paced, with hot smutty scenes and multiple partners. The lines between good and bad are blurred and I can’t decide who the villain of the story is. The story has secret societies, betrayals, group fun, violence and so much chemistry between Echo and her men. What a great start to The Dark Side of Paradise and I can’t wait to read the duet!
We should all know by now that nothing is as it seems when it comes to a story written by LK 👀 and yet she still manages to blow my damn mind 🤯
Echo comes across as a broken, but she isn't the heroine of this story, she's the villain, but what are her secrets? And who is she hiding them from? I literally can't wait to find out!!
Alexander, Dominic, and Kairos are a dark and broody entourage, but nothing is as it appears on the surface, there's hidden ties between these four characters that I'm just dying to learn about!
* I received an arc of this book for my honest review*
This was a great steamy, twisted, quick read! We meet Echo, who is orphaned and getting ready to leave her broken life behind for a new one she didn't know about. She seems so broken and alone but underneath is hiding something, something I definitely didn't see coming. It was played so good that it left me slightly confused and in shocked, but was brilliantly done!
We meet Alex, Kairo and Dominic who seem to be are troubled leading men. They are wealthy but hiding a secret dark side. They all had extreme dark pasts that have left them slightly broken. We got one heck of a spicy scene between all our characters and then immediately got our legs kicked right out from under us! I can't wait to find out what is going to happen with this book. It's going to be dark, depraved and oh so wicked!
Divine Violence takes place on Samhain An invite , a party , three tasteful men & one innocent maiden, or is she?
Oh yes Ms. Reid has pulled me in with this Halloween treat . A plot twist I wasn't expecting, some yummy spicy scenes & of course , the lovely taste of Vi0lence! I absolutely can't wait for the next part of this story. It took me a minute to get to it , but once I did , I devoured it .
Echo's story is broken and although the story starts off slow it picks up and what a story it turns out to be. The Sparrow and the guys from The Infernal Triumvirat we get their dark secrets and messed up past however things are all what they seem. Holy smokes I am still reeling.
Holy cow what a twisted, mind blowing novella. This was just a taste of what's to come from this arthur in the next book in The Dark Side of Paradise Duet.
This book checks all the boxes for those of us who love those fucked up dark reads, especially from this arthur. I've read several of this arthur's book's and loved them all. She knows how to talk to my darkness oh so well.
This why choose is one hot twisted wild read with three hot men Kairos, Alexander, Dominic. They want Echo as their Maiden, they think they know her, but she's not the girl they think she is...as she has her own plans.10 years later, they're coming for her.
You need to just go in blind and ride the wild ride that leaves you trying to figure out just what's going on.
Why must I hurt myself like this. LK writes epic stories and I keep coming back for more. The feeling this book gave me was such a rush. It was very intense and kept me on edge. I felt like I jumped into a dark abyss.
This was nice. Like really nice nice. Quick. Engaging. And it got me excited for the sequel. If anyone has the chance to compete with my Bird Brothers and Ophelia...
Divine Violence hit my kindle I couldn’t wait . As soon I could I jump right in I was hooked right form the start . keep you captivated right through till the end. I don’t want give anything away but let just say if you like dark , twisted romance then this book is for you !!!!
