This is really a nice series of BB! In this book shapes are first defined (triangle) and then the shape is pointed out in the real world (bundles of 9 zongzi get thrown into the river). I think this is a fantastic way to go from the abstract to the particular; which is very helpful if you are a small child trying to learn two languages!

This is a book about shapes and the Dragon Boat Festival. It's interesting. As a Western thinker, A pictograph language seems like it would have easy characters for shapes, you could almost make them. But it's not so simple. It takes, most time, three complex characters for Square or Triangle or Oval. I'm surprised on how complex it is.
I also get frustrated. They give a line of text in Pin yin and the characters and then the English line. I wish sometimes they would translate each character so we could see what's going on. I don't understand how it's working in Chinese. The character, no surprise, don't translate word for word or character for word. I like the character to heart. They also use moxa in this book.

The first 4 pages of lines, sides, and corners felt disjointed from the rest of the book about shapes, which I quite enjoyed. I learned about Chinese traditions and language.
