Jaime Thomas

My life is turned upside down when I'm suddenly given custody of my sister's infant daughter.

I'd already been trying to figure things out and get my life on track. The sudden pressure of caring for a newborn is just too much for me. I am not sure how to cope. I guess that’s why I formed a fascination with a local children’s show host and author.

Mr. Macintosh knows kids. He’s calm and stable and dependable. He’s everything I wish I was. His show is the only thing in this world to offer me any comfort. I've never wanted a man before but suddenly, I crave him, his stability, soothing voice, advice. I'll take whatever I can get.

Ethan Mack

As a local children's entertainer, I'm used to parent fans, but Jaime is different.

In my life, I've only known one other person who was so obviously overwhelmed and it didn’t end well. The trauma has pushed me forward all these years but now, suddenly I feel like I have a second chance to right things.

Helping Jaime and his daughter won’t fix the tragedies in my past, but I can’t stop myself from trying. If anyone can make this right, it’s me. I'll do whatever it takes to make Jaime happy.

Jaime was such a lovely read! I knew very little about this series but I saw some of the other titles pop up here and there. However, when I saw that Sienna Sway was writing a contemporary story under a new pen name, I jumped on the chance to read an advance copy.

Jaime is a young 23-year-old man who is raising a young infant by himself. He is struggling with being a single father to his two month old niece, who was left to him by his sister who struggled with addiction. He's alone with no support system but is trying his best. He finds comfort in a children's TV show he turns on for his baby hosted by a Mr Macintosh. He views Mr. Macintosh as an older stable adult who understands children. He decides to take his baby to a local children's book reading by him one evening.

Ethan notices the lonely young man at the back who looks so out of place and can't help but reach out to him. He notices he's holding an infant with no carrier in sight, and it reminds him of his mother and baby sister just before they tragically passed away. He offers support and comfort to Jaime.

Jaime was such a cute and romantic story! There's angst as we learn that these two men have dealt with grief and a lifetime of trauma due to their childhoods, but when they come together…oh my heart. I loved Ethan so much as he came to offer support to Jaime, and seeing Jaime start to trust and get his footing after being left on his own was so sweet to see. Jaime was not prepared to be a father, but with Ethan they do their best for his young baby.

Their attraction was insta, and their relationship moves fast and there's a bi-awakening for Jaime as he realized he was attracted to Ethan sexually beyond admiration or respect. While there is an imbalance in the relationship, at first, they address it as both of them have concerns and reservations, especially Jamie (because why does an older rich man want to help out?). I also loved how Ethan never pushed Jaime to start on things such as learning to drive and getting his GED but showed him that he could take his time and he would be there to support him.

I love Sienna's writing (huge fan of their Sci-Fi/omegaverse stories), and I devoured this in one sitting. It was sweet, steamy, and so romantic! That first sex scene between Ethan and Jaime was so so hot.

Overall this was a cute single father, age gap, bi-awakening story! I really enjoyed it and will be checking out the other book in the series by Sienna Sway Demetrius!

Not bad, but the completely wacky timeline threw me off.

You know - once you start noticing it - some things are so distracting that you can’t focus on the story any more? This happened to me here.

The plot is short: 23yo Jaime, who’s mother died in a car accident when he was a child, suddenly needs to look after a baby - his niece Evie, because his sister needs to go to rehab. He loves watching a children’s program with Evie, and even goes to a signing where the show’s star reads from his books (he’s an author, too).

Said tv star/author is Ethan, the “older guy” (he’s 30yo). They’re immediately attracted to each other and Jaime realises he’s not as straight as he thought he is before.

The things I liked: the organic way Ethan and Jamie developed a daddy/boy (ish) relationship, and how Ethan took care of Jamie right from the start.

But what completely distracted me was the timeline: they meet when Evie is 2 months old. By that time, Jamie had had her long enough to be estranged from his former party-friends, hasn’t slept in weeks and is already addicted to the aforementioned children’s show.

When he meets Ethan, he immediately lets him take over and gets intimate with him - and I repeat, he thought of himself as being straight.

In a matter of days, Jamie can’t imagine a life without Ethan, and vice versa. They move in after 2 weeks ffs. It’s just… inconsistent. Spreading the story a bit to cover a few months would have improved the book so much.

I know the book isn’t overly long, but it really could have been a lot better with a bit of careful editing.

It’s not on KU, so you might want to think about it before you hit the buy button. It’s not bad, but not quite a book I could unconditionally recommend.

Jaime is part of the ‘Single Dads of Gaynor Beach’ collection. It stars Jaime Thomas, a single young man tasked with raising his newborn niece, Evie, and Ethan Mack, a children’s entertainer. This is told in first person from both Jaime and Ethan’s povs.

EDIT: The author has updated the blurb to be more consistent with the story. I still think what his father said is rich, considering what he was like. The change to Ethan's part of the blurb works much better and is consistent to how he behaves in the story. I raise my rating to 4.5 Stars, but since GR doesn't allow half stars, the rating stays the way it is.

The story is the second book this author wrote for this collection. I read the other co-written story, and I like this one much better. I was immediately sucked in by Jaime’s voice as he struggled with caring for his niece. He had no knowledge of how to raise a child, no basic child supplies, no job, no real education, and his depression and hopelessness was palpable. I felt so sorry for him. Jaime’s only comfort was watching Mr. Macintosh’s children show and imagining that Mr. Macintosh was helping him. One day Jaime sees that Mr. Macintosh is going to be at a book signing, so Jaime decides to attend with Evie. From there Jaime, and Evie’s, lives change when Ethan Mack spots them.

In my reviews, I like to include the cover and blurb because they are part of the overall impression that we as readers get from the story. This time, I want to talk about the blurb. The blurb is highly misleading for numerous reasons, and I strongly suggest the author change it, especially the part about Jaime. First, the blurb is not in Jaime’s voice. It doesn’t sound anything like the Jaime in the story, and the story doesn’t go into his supposed ‘wild high school life’, or all that much about his past except for one short paragraph and a line or two in different places. It’s all about the present with Evie and Ethan. Second this is most important, and this is a bit of a spoiler, Jaime’s mother didn’t know Jaime when he was in high school. Jaime is the younger brother to Liz; she was nine when their mother died. There is no way that Jaime’s mother would be able to know he was the troubled child. His and Liz’s problems didn’t start until after their mother passed and Jaime was probably only about seven years old. As to Ethan’s part of the blurb, “Even if I cross every line along the way,” isn’t exactly how the story goes. He crosses one questionable line when he helps Jaime in the beginning, but I didn’t think there were any problems with how he helped Jaime later. So, I think the blurb should be redone because it is misleading, especially about Jaime.

I really enjoyed the characters. The author did a terrific job with Jaime and Ethan’s voices and kept them consistent throughout the story. There wasn’t much personal growth on Ethan’s part so much as personal revelations on why he was so attracted to Jaime and Evie, and admitting to himself what he wanted the most out of life. Like I mentioned, Jaime’s voice at the start of the story was gut-wrenching. He was so lost, so hopeless and depressed. He wanted to give Evie what he and his sister never had, but he had no one to guide him, and he was afraid to trust anyone because he felt they wouldn’t always be there for him. It’s only through Ethan’s gentleness, ability to read Jaime’s emotions, and Jaime’s trust in him already established through the TV shows, that Ethan gained Jaime’s trust enough to help him. I could completely believe in Jaime and Ethan as a couple. Their relationship probably takes place over about a few months maybe, it’s fairly quick, but I suppose that was necessary for a novella in a collection series.

Jaime was a highly entertaining, heartrending read with realistic characters. I could believe in Ethan and Jaime as a couple. I recommend this book. The one quibble I have is the misleading blurb, especially concerning Jaime. Therefore, that makes me drop the stars for this book to, 4 Stars.

I received an ARC from the author. I am giving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I loved this book, and I couldn’t put it down. This book was put together so well. I was able to feel what the characters were expressing, I went from happy to sad to mad, all in this story. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves happy every afters (mm).

ARC review

Book: Jaime by SA Sway (28/03/2023).

Jaime is the first book in the Single Dad of Gaynor Beach series that features Jaime, a single dad that takes care of Evie, her sweet little baby, meanwhile he steps his scare of not being a good father and can't give everything Evie needs, when he meets he's favorite child show Tv host, Ethan, a guy who's determinate to help him as a single father, broke is insurance and maybe win is heart in the end too.

The idea of join a newbie single dad like Jaime to a writer and tv host of child content like Ethan, makes my heart melt everything i remember this book (I need to check Maximus too and the other upcoming books on the series too).

The book goes deep in themes like initial parenting, traumas, addiction, some angst (but not high I swear), panic attack and a good narrative with the single dad's trope to read in a Sunday afternoon.

The 28-chapter narrative plus an Epilogue has a dual Pov but gives us a great understanding of the situations and character opinions and feelings in its 163 pages.

My first real single dad read in this type and I only want to say that I'm going to miss so much all the who get my hearts with him like Naomi, Mr and Mrs Woo, Magda and even Liz with who should I simpatized at the end and finish understanding. But mostly of my gold couple:Jaime and Ethan, and the best character in the story (in my opinion) : Evie.

I'd like to see more of Jaime and Ethan family life with our sweet baby and please i need a extra of them, Sienna 😭 or even a short story (for while I'll be with the eyes open to Maximus and the other following books).

(I'm going to stop writing because this review is turning out to be longer than expected and I don't want to risk giving away a spoiler).

Then Jaime is the perfect book for you if you like a single dad, strangers to friends to lovers trope, a little bit of angst, a little bit of drama toi, and a romance that will melt your heart between a young single dad, that love's his baby more than anything, who needs a light in the middle of is own mental and emotional confusion a child tv host, sweet and sexy in the same intensity, who wants to show him the way and a sweet little baby girl, who is the best Cupid ever, that wins the perfect unexpected family.

Jaime is a 23 yr old who has recently become daddy to his sister's daughter who is 2 months old when the book begins. He has had a rough life with hi mum dying when he was young and then his dad also passed away recently. His sister is not in a state fit enough to care for her daughter and hands guardianship to her brother who up til now was doing not much. He struggles with looking after Evie and is nervous that he may not be doing a good job, constantly worried as she's so fragile. He takes each day as he can and does his best. One day watching a children's show with. presenter he feels a connection with, he learns that he is a children's author and is having a book reading nearby. Before he knows it he and Evie are there with lots of other parents and children.

Ethan lost his baby sister and mother at a very young age and although he has an incredible dad, he always felt that he needed to do something more so he is now a children's author and has a show that he does to entertain children. During his recent show he spots a very young 'dad' and approaches him when he has a blank stare in his eyes and obviously struggling with fatherhood. He engages with Jaime immediately and starts doing what he can to help the young man. He is such a help to Jaime who has never had anyone on his side and soon the attraction they both feel turned into more as Ethan does more and more to be a part of Jaime and Evie's lives.

There is a little angst with small misunderstandings and the return of Jaime's sister but also fun outings and dates that make this such a fun enjoyable book to read. I loved how even though their attraction was immediate it was a slow burn due to their busy lives. It was so good to see Jaime start to feel more confident once Ethan helped him put in place necessary items for babies to thrive like a cot, floor mat and toys. I was cheering for both Jaime and Ethan the whole time and thought this was an original single dad's story.

Twenty-three year old Jaime finds himself overwhelmed when his sister Liz drops his 2 month old niece Evie off at his apartment, and then promptly disappears. Jaime has no concept of child care, and is a sleepless and agitated nervous wreck. Intrigued by the handsome host of the local TV children's program, Mr. McIntosh, Jaime is able to meet Ethan Mack at a children's' book reading he is hosting at the local library. The sparks of attraction fly almost immediately between the two upon meeting, and soon a close and intimate relationship develops. But Ethan and Jaime have both suffered loss and emotional grief in the past. Can each man be the balm of healing for the other, or will the men's pasts destroy everything they are working toward?

I really enjoyed reading Jaime! I found the book to have been very well-written, original and entertaining. The character development in the book is fabulous - I could very well imagine the emotional pain that Jaime is experiencing in his young life. With the loss of his own mother as a role model when he was younger, being forced to be a responsible adult for his niece is mind-boggling. Ethan and Jaime connect so well because both men have suffered loss of family at a young age, and neither has really been able to get over his grief and allowed himself to live an emotionally happy life.

The plot of the book is quite well thought-out and logically constructed… and the reader really can't imagine the outcome of Ethan and Jaime's tenuous relationship until the end of the book.

Finally, the sense of love and family in this book is so charming and heartwarming! Having lost family along the way in the past, Jaime and Ethan discover that family is what has been missing in their lives for so long, and being together just might be the start of spiritual healing for both of them.

A wonderful romance!! 5 stars!

There When He Needed Him . . .

Jaime Thomas, 23 years old, suddenly finds himself with custody of his sister's 2-month-old infant daughter, Evie, and with no idea of how to care for her. He was terrified when he held her, afraid the slightest move would cause him to drop her. He finds hope in watching a children’s show where the host, who is also an author of kids’ books, makes it look so easy. “Mr. Macintosh” is so good with children and is practically Jaime’s role model for what he wants to be to Evie -- the man presents an image of being calm, relaxed, stable, and dependable. His voice immediately puts Jaime at ease. Just gathering tips from the show helps Jaime stay calm as well while he tries to master the skills he needs to be a good dad. And when Mr. Macintosh offers a chance for his viewers to meet him in person and listen to him read his new book to the kids, he was so tempted to go to Boardwalk Books and Bites to meet his hero.

Ethan Mack had his own difficult past where he knew what could happen when a parent is too overwhelmed. He uses his kids’ show as a sort of “second chance” to help those who need some guidance and comfort to encourage them that they can deal with this huge job called parenthood. And helping Jaime feels like the right thing to do now. He is trying so hard to be a good parent. Will they find that just being offered some hope can actually be healing? Will it surprise them that it can heal both of them?

This is a well-written book that puts the reader in a place of kindness and caring. Our actions can so easily affect others, and Ethan’s kind attitude gave Jaime the chance to reach out and gain confidence in himself. And it also provided Ethan a way to make someone else’s life better. Could it give both of them their HEA and a caring home for Evie?

Jaime is a sweet, steamy instant connection story with an adorable little girl and two men who seem to be wrapped around her little finger. If you're like me and a sucker for a single dad (or in this case, single uncle story) you're going to want to pick up this latest addition to the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach multi-author series.

The story was a quick read and featured insta-love, a bi-awakening and hurt/comfort. Jaime's past and that of Ethan's make the story a little darker, but the here and now was almost fairy tale.

I wish there was more upfront - it was a little too instant for me, especially since it involves a sexual awakening, but overall the story won me over and had a good conclusion.

This story wove together some of my favorite romance tropes into one sweet story. Jaime is young and has sacrificed and given so much for his niece he is now raising on his own. When Ethan who is older and wealthier spots Jaime and his little girl, he is instantly drawn to them. I loved how he became so supportive but never crossed the line of overbearing. They had a hot chemistry and Ethan was Jaime first time being attracted to and with a man. Swoon! Yes, they have quick feelings for each other but they both try to navigate carefully due to the age difference and the wealth that Ethan has. Ethan a sad loss of family in his past, so Jaime had so much to offer Ethan too. This was a pretty easy and heartwarming read.

Right on time! Jamie, is 23yo and terrified when he got sudden unexpected care of his niece, Evie. He is barely taking care of himself. He wants to do his best for her, but he was absolutely clueless. Ethan, notices Jamie at a reading he was doing at Books and Bites. He could see how overwhelmed Jamie was and felt compelled to help him out. He offered friendship and Jamie sorely needed a friend at least. This story is like a warm comforter on a chilly night. You can feel safe and enchanted watching these three get to know each other. The author, has a nack for creating strong characters who understand each other and are exactly what is needed at the right time. Well done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

“Sometimes we need people to hold our hands through things. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

This was such an amazing book. I completely fell in love with both Jaime and Ethan so fast! They were so sweet together. I loved that though Ethan offered Jaime the help he so desperately needed, he also gave him hope, a sense of stability, and confidence. Jaime's feelings for Ethan were very new to him, but his trust in Ethan and the peace he feels around him kept him calm, and he accepted it almost immediately. Everything in this book felt relatable and believable and I was completely hooked. While I've read nearly a dozen of Sienna Sway's paranormal/sci-fi romance, this was my first contemporary and I can't wait to read more! A beautiful read! 5 stars.

This book was good. Jaime feels like a failure. He is raising Evie, his 2 month old niece, all by himself and is feeling very overwhelmed. One chance meeting with the author who has a tv program reading books to kids changes everything. Ethan sees the sad young man at the back of the room and feels drawn to help him. These two have an instant connection and it isn’t long before Ethan can’t see his life without them in it. This story was a little heartbreaking too because Jaime isn’t used to good things happening or to people sticking around. These characters pulled at my heartstrings. Evie is a little super star. This is a feel good story and definitely worth a read.

My heart broke for poor Jaime and Ethan respectively.
Both have suffered horrific trauma in their past.
Jaime is young and just starting to try to get his life together when he's suddenly made guardian to his infant niece.
While at an children's author reading, Ethan (the author) notices Jaime in the back of the room and is instantly struck by how overwhelmed he seems.
Ethan is trying to work through some issues from his past by helping Jaime.
The chemistry between them was instantaneous.
I really appreciated how gentle Ethan was with Jaime and didn't pressure him to get his life together but instead celebrated his every little success.

These men bring light and love yo their lives.
Jaime has his baby niece, Evie, suddenly brought in his life and he is couping but so tired the light in his day it the show of a children's book author, que Ethan. They have an instant click at a booksstore reading.
I liked the natural, quick but well written first bi/ gay awakening of Jaime and the natural feel to this. Ethan also deals with ghost of his past by being near cute Evie.
And a shout out to bf Naomi of being so supportive of Ethan and Jaime.

Jaime becomes guardian to his niece and he needs help. Ethan sees him at an event and sees that he is in over his head and decides to offer help. They connect, not just because Ethan offers Jaime a hand. Ethan, as he gets involved, also comes to see Jaime and Evie as a part of his life that he wants to continue to be there. This story is sweet. Both of these men step up for this little girl. And they find love with one another. Ethan truly was a blessing not only to Jaime the caregiver, but also to Jaime the man.

I enjoyed Jaime by SA Sway. It's part of the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach series. I liked Ethan and Jaime's book. They have a very co-dependent relationship, well, Jaime has a co-dependent relationship with Ethan, which sometimes felt like it was on the verge of being an unhealthy relationship, but as Jaime learned to do things and got his life back on track, he didn't seem to lean on Ethan as much, and it had a healthier feeling to their relationship.

Jamie's sister left her baby daughter with him. He loves her but he feels unsure of what to do and feels so alone. He goes to a children's book reading with the baby and meets the author. Ethan sees Jamie and gets the feeling he needs help and he also is attracted to him. He helps Jamie out by helping him get the things he needs to make it easier taking care of the baby. The more they're together the more they know they care for each other. I really enjoyed this book.

Another great story in this Series.
Ethan is a children's entertainer and when he spots Jaime in the crowd at one of his readings, things click and he starts to fall for Jaime and his daughter (niece) Evie, thus begins a beautiful romance for them.
I highly recommend this book and all the others in The Single Dads of Gaynor Beach Series.

Very enjoyable addition to a great series. I didn't really feel the Jaime on the blurb, the party type - I thought more the hurt by everyone leaving type. It was lovely how Ethan stepped up to help. The ending was really sweet.
