A TWISTING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER. IF YOU COULD ALTER HISTORY ...
It is 1978, thirty-one years since the Red Army liberated Britain from Nazi occupation. The British Socialist State is twenty-nine years old. But to Hutcheons, everything seems new.

His memory is a mess. He’d give anything to remember the name of his mother, whether he’s married, has children. He has no idea why he's being held in a State Security prison, or how far he can trust the enigmatic Chloe Salsinger, the hospital wing captain treating his amnesia. Above all, he has no idea why everyone is fixated on a name he mumbled in his sleep.

To Hutcheons, it's just another hopeless scrap of memory. But there's a file on that name. And it belongs to a disgraced SS physicist who died in 1949. Hutcheons would have been a child back then ... yet he used the name as if addressing a colleague.

Shaun Musson is a British writer and author of The Retrieval Chamber, a twisting, character-driven thriller in which history has changed.

Born in Basingstoke, he spent four years recruiting government scientists, and a further 27 working for the Cabinet Office. Much of his writing has appeared in magazines, from short stories to historical non-fiction. On being made redundant he developed The Retrieval Chamber and is currently working on two stand-alone prequels.

When not researching, travelling to locations, or writing, Shaun enjoys walking, good music, and a good read, regardless of genre. With a passion for history, Shaun has two grown-up children and lives in Hampshire with his wife and dog.

intriguing and original storyline

A thoroughly absorbing story of an alternative history in Britain post the Second World War. Highly entertaining with unexpected twists and turns, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something a little different.
