Pursuit of Wisdom

Rate this book
Wisdom seekers are searching for Truth, Knowledge, Justice, Beauty, and Love. We constantly encounter “raw data and sound bites,” which is meaningless, unintelligent information without much truth or knowledge.
The actual purpose of Wisdom is the Pursuit of Transcendent truths, whereby we hope to find Goodness, Justice, and Beauty. In our Pursuit, Faith and Reason is essential, especially when we do not fully understand society, nor the physical universe. The end objective of All Wisdom is finding Perfect Love.
Can we really speak of, and defend, “Universal Human Rights,” in a cultural climate in which the very idea of “truth” is under sustained assault? Culture battles are ongoing debates—a continuing struggle— between those who believe that human beings can, however inadequately, grasp the truth of how we ought to live together, and those for whom any notion of faith and “transcendent truth” involves an unacceptable imposition of someone’s values on someone else. Nevertheless, Truth never changes!

Wow! What an exciting book. I was that excited when I first opened it up. To anyone who enjoys the in-depth study of science and religion and slight hints of politics, I challenge you to read the Prologue and not be enthralled by it. We don’t frequently come across a book with a story that can both move you to your core and change your point of view with the amazing contents it contains.

A book like The Pursuit of Wisdom, as the title suggest, is a study that covers the span of religion and science from the creation, to our world today. Published in 2021, the subject covers themes such as the quest for truth, understanding, goodness, justice, beauty, and love in general. Sub-topics include “Sola Scriptura”, Islam and Christianity, Darwinism, Genesis Creation, Faith and works, Moral Truths, Laws, and more. You can agree or disagree, or just feel neutral but each topic captures the attention or stirs the beliefs and ideologies of the readers in one way or another. There is something to suit everyone’s taste. Deep Thinkers will be delighted with this book for its sheer variety of themes and subjects. It is engrossing, thought-provoking, enlightening, baffling, and compelling at different times and in different ways. Pursuit of Wisdom just fit the right title for this one. The more we are aware of these themes aforementioned above, the more we can be less automatic and more selective about what we believe. A lot of topics here permeate spirituality. There is no automatic ticket to heaven such as justification, though the faithful will be bolstered by it, faith and works are the basis of our salvation. We are judged through our deeds. I have to admit to feeling enlightened.

This book is the answer to the most profound questions about the veracity of the bible and God, and the beauty of science. It also includes values such as justice, love, peace, harmony, and balance. The author has made very good and strong points on many different topics. The facts were presented without a hint of discrepancy.
One particular topic that intrigued me was his discussion on scientific knowledge pages, starting from page 130 entitled Six “Cosmic” Days of Creation. I’m not sure what “cosmic days” means, but I assume that he is talking about the time in the universe as a whole. Heavily themed in Genesis chapter one, the creation, and the “Big Bang”, Robert indicated that it’s when time, space, matter, dark matter, and light began. God was very particular with time in Genesis chapter one, God said, “evening came, and morning followed-the first day.

Although I appreciate the author’s effort to bring science and religion together harmoniously, I believe that with the corrupted truth that we believe right now in science, there will be no harmony between these two. There must be a compromise to one or the other. And I chose to compromise science over what the bible says. There’s no way to bring all these truths right now into our finite minds. But I believe that the day will come when God presents his justice over the Earth and end the evil that corrupted the truth. That’s the only time that our minds will be uplifted and opened, think like the heavenly beings, and have understood just like them. Overall, this was a very engaging read and I had a lot of fun disagreeing and agreeing with the book.

How does free will play a great role in the origin of sin? Of all the topics this book has, I was deeply intrigued by this subject, the subject of good and evil, justice and injustices which many people who don’t believe in a Supreme Being uplift. If God exists, how come evil exists? I’m with Robert when he said that those who preach or over-emphasize suffering, death, hell, and damnation are deluded. In a world of free will comes love. Many thinkers have tried to explain the origin of evil. Some suggest that evil always has existed because, in their view, good can be appreciated only in contrast to evil. Others believe that the world was created perfect but, somehow, evil emerged. For example, in Greek mythology, evil started when the curious pandora opened a sealed box out of which flew all the evils of the world. This myth however does not explain the origin of evils supposedly hidden in that box. By contrast, Robert argued that life and free will are indispensable conditions for someone to receive, cultivate, and share love. Though it wasn’t explicit in the book, you could tell that free will is the basis for love. Free will, a gift from God, is sacred but comes heavily laden with powerful consequences, not only for yourself but also for others, as well. However, in the face of adversity, he concluded that God is capable of intervening, as in the case of Moses, whenever He chooses to do so. I am looking forward to reading more of the author’s publications.

Did we come from the Big Bang, and through the mysterious process of evolution became rational and thinking human beings? What has the bible say about evolution, and what science has to do with the 7-day creation in Genesis chapter one? What role does the Bible play in our lives and how do intervening variables, such as peer pressure, affect our faith in God? This and more, are compiled into a single book that is written with skill and passion. This one is highly recommended to deep thinkers, Muslims, Christians, and non-Christians.
Robert tried to reconcile the different views in science and religion and backed them with research and discoveries. You’ll be amazed as readers at how intricate and intensive this book is. With this study, I find true answers to questions such as:
How did the human lifespan decline?
What are the factors that can affect our personal view of the truth?

How is truth under attack?
What is the basic fundamental of truth?
I loved the premise as the author shares his wisdom scientifically and biblically. So many interesting topics about life and God, science, religion, and more are addressed in this book and done so with a minimum of words to make a point or explore a topic. Judging by the quality of this book, I believe that The Pursuit of Wisdom is transformational, and I look forward to reading more of Robert Fertig’s work in the future.

A fascinating book with interesting content told uniquely and humorously.
If you are on a quest to find the truth about life and its purpose as a whole, and eager to know what’s beyond what our eyes could see, and ears could hear, this is the book to go. Robert Fertig successfully brings intensive and unique ideologies to justice, life, love, beauty, truth, and justice.
Moreover, it also digs deep into the study of religion as to how Islam and Christianity emerged. One of the fascinating truths that Robert shared is the origin of Islam; he said that it has roots in the early Bible which is the Old Testament and is similarly monotheistic, worshiping the One God, as do Jews and Christians. But he pointed out that Allah is not comparable to God the Father. But how are horrific acts linked to it such as the Boston Bombing, the Fort Hood bombing, the events of September 11, and so on? I’m not going to spoil anything for the reader. I’ll let the book open your eyes to it.

So, when the fresh information of science and religion from which the book is concretely founded, the book details a lot of things that would leave you feeling satiated. This is, without a doubt, a must-read that will appeal to a wide range of people. You’d be taken for sure to a deep study with new information with this read.

Rediscovering truth and bringing purpose into our lives. Wisdom is out of reach in a world that seems to have lost sight of the real truth. Pursuit of Wisdom, as the title entails, gives us a great journey of rediscovering “truth that is under sustained assault”, according to the author. One of the most fascinating topics that intrigued me was the author’s claim about the decline of human beings’ lifespans. While the Bible was clear that God intended for their age to decline due to their wickedness, Robert was able to give scientific evidence to this phenomenon. According to him, this was all possible due to the inbreeding that exposes the genetic mistakes within the genome that have not yet had time to come to the surface. While this sounds very intriguing, perhaps this could be true.

As a deep bible student, I have to constantly flip my bible and check for the verses on every topic that has something to do with God or creation. While the bible shies away from the specific scientific phenomena as to how things came to be, it was great to have read Robert’s unique take on science backing the truth in the bible. Reading from a Christian point of view, I could say that this book is well-researched.

Broad-ranging with practical down-to-earth, real science and discoveries that bring intriguing answers to our questions. There’s nothing I have for this book other than complete admiration.
Every topic the author brings to the table is backed with science and bible truths. More importantly, this book gives enlightenment to our quest for truth, justice, goodness, beauty, and love. All entwined in these 300-plus pages.
This book spanned a variety of topics that one can learn and enjoy. This book not only focuses on evidence and research but also deals with topics such as faith on which I was intrigued the most. I somewhat agree with Robert when he said that “justification” is not an automatic ticket to heaven. However, justification plays a great role in our lives as professed. It means that we are justified by the blood of Christ, in that, 1 John 1:9, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us. But of course, justification is not an automatic ticket to heaven. I agree with Robert because we are judged according to our deeds. Faith and works go hand in hand with our salvation. Great devotional book for our daily walk in life with God.

For those who want to say that religion is a conspiracy theory and that science is the truth, they’re not looking at the right place. I urge you to read this book and get educated. I vouched that the “truth” written by the author is based on facts and research. This book gives us insights into some of the issues that have been long debated throughout time such as the reality of the Big Bang, Darwin’s theory of Evolution, the Creation in Genesis Chapter One, Faith and works, the Bible, justice, Islam and Christianity, and more.

Robert is rich in his language and surely he has mastered his topics. For new readers and deep thinkers, you can agree or disagree. As for myself, I had to check constantly the Bible and google to confirm some of what he said that I wasn’t familiar with and I must say that it was a great study. I felt empowered, enriched, and motivated by his topics. While I do not claim that I have understood all the topics and that all his writings are true, it’s a book that is worth taking your time with. This book is a must and this is my strong recommendation.

Every time I open up new pages, I feel drawn to the heavy themes the author had written. Consequently, I become a thinker myself. I was deeply intrigued by the author’s new revelations that at times easy and difficult to comprehend. But I can feel the intensity, dedication, and sincerity of each subject throughout the whole read.
Firstly, the right question that should be asked upon delving into the subject is, does God exist? Where is the evidence that God exists?

This book gives an advantage to Christianity not because it’s one-sided, but because there is countless evidence that God exists. As the author had stated, the existence of human consciousness, the immutable law of the universe, God’s revelation in Scripture, nature, ethics, morality, and so on. The author is right that if God does not exist, right and wrong would simply be a matter of individual opinion such as in the case of some places these days. The very basis for the truth has been neglected, and the truth is seen as subjective in all forms. This book is an eye-opener and I have no doubts that it's going to transform one’s point of view after reading it the way it transformed mine.

The Pursuit of Wisdom becomes a page-turner guidebook that introduced the reality of a Supreme Being in a whole new different way. For those of you interested in reading about religion, science, spirituality, the aspect of the human mind, the pursuit of wisdom, justice, beauty, and the quest for truth, this is a good one to check out.
Why does evil exist?
Where’s the evidence that God exists?
How come the life span of human beings declines?
What is the justification by faith lacks practicality in Christian belief and why is it not an automatic ticket to heaven?
What is the evidence of the Big Bang and the Creation in Genesis? How are these different and related?
How is Islam differ from Christianity?
What’s the origin of the Koran?
This and more! If you have asked yourself any of these questions, you’re not alone. Robert also felt like this when he was seven years old. As a thinker, Robert gives insights into these questions and how it affects the “truth” which is under sustained assault. This book in totality is enlightening. And I wish everyone that is in the quest for truth be empowered by this book.

This is a good resource book for pastors, preachers, church leaders, scientists, deep thinkers, and anyone interested in finding the truth behind our mysterious universe. You don’t have to be a Christian, or Muslim to appreciate this book. It does not seek to inflate the downward direction of the non-believers nor does it seek to turn a blind eye. Instead, you are taken into a journey of study backed with science and history on the ongoing debate about the existence of a Supreme Being and the relationship between science and religion. It’s a quest for truth, understanding, goodness, justice, beauty, and love.

I believe that this book is trying to connect science and religion. Robert backed religion with science and tried to explain how the Big Bang was the beginning of creation in Genesis chapter 1. While this notion seemed a bit odd to me, I was intrigued by his explanation. He was extremely brilliant to use discoveries and research from renowned scientists to prove the existence of a Supreme Being. I’m glad that I took this book with an open mind.

Science finds its place in spirituality, and The Pursuit of Wisdom is for those who place their trust in their faith and science.
This book is a discovery. It contains information, knowledge, and truths never before revealed. But is the world ready for this? One thing is certain, the findings in this book will connect the unanswered questions in Darwin’s theory and biblical truths. With themes this heavy, it’s hard to believe that all the contents of the book are true. I highly suggest reading with an open mind. Some might say that this book is a mixture of factual evidence and conspiracy theories, but I’d say much less those related to the Bible and rooted in science simultaneously. This book falls into that category, looking particularly at the creation in Genesis and its connection to evolution. More than that, this book fosters justice, love, and salvation. The author certainly has a passion for religion and the idea of God’s wonders, supplanting it, as such, with scientific knowledge. Nonetheless, not everything the author said is agreeable.

An exceptional book that uncovers the reality of a belief that is pertinent to Christianity. Despite its length, this one has many excellent gems for the readers to engage and ponder upon. Whether you are a preacher, a scientist, a student, or someone who has a passion for finding the truth, this book is for you. But this book is more so beneficial to bible scholars. It covers a wide range of topics including discoveries, and the long-debated topic of evolution versus creation. Moreover, this book also guides readers to some biblical truths. The Pursuit of Wisdom is a book that points to the scripture as the standard for truth, interpreted and discussed thoroughly sprinkled with a scientific basis. But the author argued that the bible isn’t materially sufficient. I’m not sure that I agree with this, but that’s beyond my concern. I’ll let the reader discover them for themselves and be informed as to the author’s message. It’s a quick read that you owe to yourself to read, if for no other reason than being educated.

An intricately detailed and intense book that talks about God, cultural battles, truth, and science. It was unexpected to realize that a book this heavy could be so much fun and entertaining to read. For one, I’m not a fan of this kind of genre, but when I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. The content is fresh and new. Most of the truth shared by the author is by Christian belief.

The discussion of Islam and Christianity took a huge part in the book. There were revelations such as Atheism-Christian Dialogue, Islam as a monotheistic religion, and if God exists, how can evil and injustice exist. These were all pertinent to our spirituality as a whole. These are the basis for truth which no man can argue or take away. The scripture was lifted over science and it was a win for Christians. Nevertheless, the author made science and religion go hand in hand. I was glad that he sprinkled bible verses to support his claims. I’d be compelled to recommend this book.

This book kept me stuck with the pages the whole time wanting to know more. A profoundly engaging book to learn about the existence of life, the quest for truth, and the reality of a Supreme Being. Though relatively, it’s an easy book to read. You don’t have to start from the very page. You can start anywhere or simply choose a topic of interest and start from there. It has a variety of topics to choose from. Starting from the truth, history, and the Big Bang, to Modernism and Justice, and much more. You can agree or disagree.

Complete with bibliographies and references, the book as a whole, is a large, expansive book and there’s always something for everyone. And if you dig deep, as the author pointed out, one could start to see an order and spiritual aspect to science making religion and science compatible. It’s an amazing study with a lot of details. Highly recommended!

A phenomenal expansive book to read and spend time with Robert Fertig. To write a book as expansive and thought-provoking as this must have required a lot of effort, time, and research and one could easily tell that this book must have been written by a scholar, scientist, philosopher, or theologian. But no, this book was written by an author who claims not to be any of these but is simply a thinker. I was humbled by the author’s averment. This is why this book has a special place in my heart. And even if there were parts that didn’t have me as engrossed as others, that point stands.

The author used “transcendent truth” often in his writing which he believed that human beings are transcendent beings. Loss of transcendence in our culture unearths negative four major consequences. I was continually astonished at how Robert Fertig conveys his message in an intelligible and digestible way while providing practical commentary and well-considered thoughts.

This book offered me a deep understanding of the knowledge of “truth”. I applaud Rober’s bold statements about the world today. He bravely condemned Islamic horrific acts without holding back. Such a brave author to boldly present facts unequivocally, without sugarcoating, not based on dogmatism for sure, and just pure research, science, and bible truths. I love how in-depth this book is and at the same time comprehensible to anyone that reads to fully grasp the message that the author wanted to convey.
Here you would understand how Islam began, and the origin of the Koran. He also added interesting facts about Muslims and Christians and how they differ in their beliefs. I could say that it was an intense read, I got goosebumps while unlocking some thought-provoking ideologies. This book does not turn a blind eye, all the author’s claims are based on research and facts. You can either agree or disagree.

While reading this engrossing and unique publication by Robert Fertig, I was blown away by the in-depth discussion. I must admit that I laughed at once, and nodded many times to agree with Robert because of his highly humorous way of discussing the topics. Moreover, I was surprised that the book was inspired by his embarrassing experience when he was seven years old with a nun teacher.
Aside from the in-depth and intricately discussed facts and discoveries, I love that the book provides graphics to further clarify the subject. The maps, the diagrams, the graphs, and so on helps readers visualize the topic and realized the veracity of the subject. Suffice it to say, I learned a lot reading this book. An engaging reference for everyone who is into religion, politics, and science.

It was a fascinating read for me. I just happened to pick this one up because it looked interesting, and I can’t tell you glad I am to have read it. The way the author places his ideas is interesting. Starting from the definition of truth, and how truth becomes corrupted with its subjectivity that we misinterpret. Robert provided a chart for the subjectivity and objectivity of truth as a guide not to fall into the truth’s subjectivity and objectivity. This book must have taken a lot of time and effort to write, and I can understand how much effort and research Robert put forth into his content.

Brimming with well-thought-out ideas such as faith and work, justification as not an automatic ticket to heaven, and more. I was engrossed in it that I was sad to see it conclude. More of the author’s work is on my reading list.

The Pursuit of Wisdom delves deeply into several facets of the cultural crisis or battle in culture. The book is straight on point. The author did not shy away from discussing themes these heavily. I was on board right from the beginning. The author argued that our very own “truth” is in under sustained assault. Without the basis for truth, morality would become subjective.
And it’s awakening because this is what has become of humanity today. Without scripture, the basis for truth, wickedness becomes eminent.

Robert’s statements are bold. It carries a deep message to humanity. I would say transformative as a whole. Though I do not agree with all of the author’s claims, it still carries an immense amount of information about justice and morality. I truly appreciate the author’s effort in crafting this piece.

For Robert, there has always been God since the beginning of time. The author was trying to connect science and religion as these two shouldn’t conflict with each other. He claimed that Big Bang happens on the first day of creation when God created the Heavens and the Earth. Then the evolution of species happened during the following days which he interpreted as cosmic days. It was fascinating to read such a claim. However, while this subject is somewhat baffling, other claims seemed to go along with the bible's truth such as the origin of Islam and the concept of faith and works. Some topics need prior knowledge but once you get the gist of the topic, it becomes easy to follow. Drawing from his vast knowledge of science and the bible, The Pursuit of Wisdom teaches us about morality as a whole.

The Pursuit of Wisdom is filled with practical and well-considered thoughts about life, nature, creation, justice, love, and truth to name a few.

The author is explicit in his claim that macroevolution is impossible. However, evolution at a micro level is proven science. This claim is a deep study that requires prior knowledge and additional references. This book I find is not sufficient to discuss the compatibility of Evolution and Creation. As a reader who is new to this truth, I find it difficult to comprehend. Nonetheless, I find this topic interesting, and with many studies, it will become tangible to the readers. In my opinion, this book is educational and spiritual. Although it lacks a bit of humor, I still find it engaging to read. The tone is not monotonous. It also provides graphics to help clarify the subject.

An intricate and honest book that gives profound and groundbreaking first-hand information about life as a whole and the existence of a Supreme Being. While this book also tackles science, the religious aspect of this book is superior. Where does the ultimate wisdom be found? This was boldly stated by the author that it is only be found in the Mind of God which our finite mind cannot fathom. But how can we believe that there is God? As I quote “we can only know God indirectly, by His wondrous creations, and by His revelations.”

I learned a lot from this book. Although I am not personally a scholar, a theologian, or a scientist, the essence of being a human being is sufficient reason to read this book and be educated. Reading this publication is a whole new experience.

Wisdom is power because it opens our minds to believing things that are beyond science. Human beings put limitations on science. We don’t believe what we can’t explain. In this book, Robert tried to reconcile science and religion. According to him, God is real, and that evolution may perhaps be real. Life does not come by chance. Yet, Life is self-transcending in that it’s constantly evolving, creating new forms of itself. Life forms are dependent on each other, and cannot exist alone.

These are just a few points that Robert wanted to point out. I’m sure this will create curiosity in the readers as they delve along the pages. I urge anyone to have themselves revived and educated by this book. It’s a great read with a lot of thought-provoking ideas.

When I read this book, I got a notebook and took down plenty of notes because there are so many facts and ideas which I found significant.

On the subject of love, at first, I was uncomfortable because I thought that love was cheesy. But in Pursuit of Wisdom, it does not feel like that at all.

Robert Fertig cited C.S. Lewis, and he mentioned that there are four kinds of love. These are Affection, Friendship, Eros, and Charity.

The author added and beautifully wrote that "Love always implies free will, and with love comes freedom, and with freedom comes responsibility." This affected me deeply because the word love is loosely said these days as if it's something trivial. But now, I have a better understanding of what real love is and follow the example of Jesus.

Of all the serious narratives shared by the author, I couldn’t unread his childhood experience with his religious teacher when he asked what God was doing before He created the universe, and his teacher replied “He was creating hell for children like you, who ask such ridiculous questions.” I laughed so hard though I feel bad for him, but I couldn’t help but laugh aloud.

This particular experience led Robert to ultimately find the truth. His argument is based on John 1:1 that “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” As the author had stated, there was no “before”.
One could tell that this is not fast work. I appreciate Robert’s time and effort in crafting this masterpiece. I’m not sure how long the author wrote this book but it’s a must-read that can be purchased for less than 20 bucks. In all honesty, I feel empowered and fortunate to have read such a book like this.

A phenomenal effort by the author to bring the teachings, findings and studies of influential and famous scholars, leaders, scientists, etc. together to explain life and the present state of affairs in the world.

The author presents a straightforward and unfiltered picture of multiple problems faced by society on the whole today. He talks about how there is a fine line between being illiterate and being ignorant as people tend to disregard diversity in every form.
