Life in the Hell’s Reaper Motorcycle club has been amazing. Being the daughter of the Sergeant at Arms has it’s perks. Life was good, almost too good.
What I didn’t know was that my parent’s past was about to come back in full force, taking me away from them.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to survive.
Behind the Scheme is book 2 in the Hell’s Reaper Series. It follows a different couple and can be read as a standalone. To better understand the story, please read Behind the Burns, book 1 in the Hell’s Reaper Series.
Authors Note: This book contains strong subject matter that may not be suitable for all readers. The topics in this book involve Abuse, graphic rape, kidnapping, torture, and violence. Reader discretion is advised
This book was hard to read. The subject matter in it was very heavy and rough. But that is not what made it hard to read. I do not feel the writing was developed enough to cover such heavy subject matter. The experiences and trauma that the MC goes through deserved more follow up and details about her ptsd. I especially didn’t like that right after she is rescued she is rushed to her mothers side and essentially pushed to the side. What she went through was much more traumatic than what her mother is going through and I do not feel that anyone in her life supported her properly. The ending also brought absolutely no closure or finality to this two book series.
Wow this book is intense and gut wrenching throughout make sure you definitely check TW.
This book dives into the unspeakable that happens when Marcy is kidnapped for two months. You will get the past and present shifting of time frames in this book, and you get multiple POV's as the story progresses. This is book two in the Hell's Reapers series so beware of a cliffhanger.
As you follow along with all the horrible and horrendous things that Marcy and her new cell mate Estella faced during this time, will definitely have you cringing and feeling their pain as your own. This part is gut wrenching and the author definitely makes you feel an array of emotions when reading their lives in captivity. It is very detailed and graphic so if you have sensitivity to any traumas then this may need to be skipped over. If you have zero triggers then get ready to experience this highly intense emotional rollercoaster of a story.
You will see how Marcy's parents and the MC all handle what happens when she's kidnapped to the aftereffects of the trauma when she returns. You see how she was so in love with her best friend Noah and they decided to become a couple and then everything changes for both of them. You see her find out her parents life's had changed in drastic ways while she was gone. You watch her and Estella become the only two people to understand each other now. Everything in this girl's life is changed forever and watching her trying to navigate what is now expected of her and her friend is truly sad and heartbreaking at times.
This story is gripping and painful at times but it shows the raw emotions of all that were involved. I had the pleasure of reading this one early and it had me glued till the end. It's not for the faint of hearts but it is a very telling story that pulls you in and makes you want to know what will happen next. It ends on a bit of cliffhanger so don't go looking for that true HEA in this one just yet. I'm excited to see where the part of this series will go now.
Firstly, Please check the trigger warning before reading. This story is so heart breaking but it’s a good story.
Marcy is the daughter of the couple from the first book in the series. It’s not necessary to read the first book but it helps with the back story to the plot in this book.
This book actually starts off right where book 1 ended. Marcy is kidnapped and she meets Estella and together they survive horrible things. My heart broke for them. They are rescued by the MC and it ends in a happy for now. I can’t wait to see how Marcy and Estella cope with being back in the real world. I hope to see more of Noah and Marcy in the next book and hope they get their happily ever after.
This book had me at the edge of my seat . This book made me feel so many ways and none were nice, that’s what makes a book great. Marcy I hope one day will open up to the horrors she went through with Noah . I was so engrossed in this book. I hope there is a next one I would love to see how things end. Please mind the trigger warnings this book isn’t for the faint of heart.
Marcy and Estella’s story is gut-wrenching. The little details that we do get of their experiences during captivity are absolutely awful, and I’m so thankful they have each other to heal with. There were a lot of details I feel like I missed, it seemed a little rushed towards the end. Overall it was great to have the continuation of Bear and Jillian’s story, I just wish there were more details surrounding certain things.
There are many warnings from the author of dark themes that are triggering before reading - abuse /rape.
I went in all the same and the WHOLE BOOK (chapter after chapter 🤢) is about abuse / gang rape. Nothing good in this book and was not expecting the whole book to be dedicated to these themes.
Read at your own risk - would not read another book by this author.
Another great story in the series. Looking forward to the next one. Love C. E. Kingsley writing. If you love MC families, strong males, loving family, give it a try☺☺
