A Leap of Faith

Rate this book
The Nouri made their intention to stay clear by claiming the uninhabited Planet E-124 as their future home. However, efforts in making it habitable hit a snag early on in the terraforming process, forcing them to enlist the services of a local geophysicist. Robin Ford almost immediately caused a stir when she sets her own terms of engagement.

About the author

Stein Willard

Born and bred in Windhoek, Namibia, Stein has considerable experience in the media field and has worked as a journalist, TV producer, and PR consultant before starting her own small media production company. Her hobbies include writing, reading, cooking, travelling, photography, and scouting the airwaves for new music and watching soccer.
The thirty five year old Stein started writing at the age of thirteen after feeling cheated by the ending of a novel she was reading. She took the novel and rewrote it from the ending back to the front, adding 200 more pages to it. Since then she's only written in her native language, Afrikaans, a derivation of the Dutch language. Throughout her high school career, she 'lended' out her work to fellow boarding school students at a fee and made a killing writing love stories for couples on Valentine's Day.
Not a native English speaker she decided to experiment in 2007 by writing a few short stories in English, which since has been kept password-protected on her hard drive never to see the light of day. By pure accident, she came across platforms on the internet to publish her work and was encouraged by a friend to try and post some of her stories.
Stein still resides in Windhoek.

sometimes there are issues…

When you meet prior characters in a series and the spotlight is no longer on them per se. They seem to be somewhat diminished. Not so when it comes to Angela and Solmiri. They’re still hot and growing into their relationship. Solmiri is dangerous to anyone that comes near her mate in a harmful way. There are still some parts of Solmiri that is insecure when it comes to Angela because of how they met and being cross-species.

We meet Robin. She is a typical masculine leaning butch in representation. Cocky, but sweet and kind. She is a wealthy nomad that hunts down rare jewels and other items found on distant planets. Then she encounters a different kind of priceless jewel.

Kuni has your typical ice-madden written all over her. All business and no nonsense in business or her private life. She was once lover of the Empress decades ago and had lost her ‘mate’ just as long. She meets Robin in such and unexpected way with a big ask. The Payment form of such an ask was not what she was expecting. But the ‘need’ was greater than the ask.

Everything afterwards was the lead up to he dance. And what a dance it was. The womanizing nomad to the stoic and emotional lonely Nouri.

I would like a little more backstory on the Nouri’s and their mating ritual. Because when we saw it happen to Solmiri, it was different. When it happened to Kuni, it was after they found out that one was ‘burning’ and the other was ‘waiting.’ With Solmiri, we knew right away.

I can’t wait to see what happened next. We have a new arrival that has hidden her identity and her social standing. Who is she? And she made goggly eyes at Robin and asked the most provocative question surrounding Kuni and Robin. I don’t know if anyone else in the story for a connection. Well, not yet. But she is interesting.

Morsels of Delicious Space Drama

I petulant my and stupidly assigned only four stars to the previous two novellas because I wanted full length stories. I rescind that objection and praise the author's ability to maintain her blend of things intrigue, spacefaring, and romance across the three novellas thus far. They are so good and fun and delicious. Enjoy!

Everything I ❤️

I loved the humor, the anticipation, the moderate angst, ok I'll say it, the love scenes, the passion, and the story as a whole.
