The beginning was so slow that I almost stopped reading and then all of a sudden the pace was so fast it felt like a race to the end. Isabelle and Nicolas' love is portrayed in a few unrealistic intimate scenes, but doesn't show a deeper connection (only attraction and desire). The end is rather violent with the death of Mariette and other side characters.
Definitely not reading more of the series.
