10 • Equalization • 21 pages by Richard A. Lovett
Excellent/Outstanding. Andru chose to be a runner. In this society the better minds have been put into bodies that aren't quite as good and vice versa. This equalization makes everyone the same. Doing well in your body for a year may earn you perks the next year. Andru wakes up this time and finds an immediate familiarity with his new body. I loved this story, almost like being in my twenties again and getting a runner's high.

40 • The Human Dress • 18 pages by David Alexander
Excellent/VG. The Orion is on its route to Centralia with a stop at Beloved first. When the get to the Beloved system they are told a virus has infected their computers. After they land they get more of the story, there is a not so peaceful transition in government and the Archon is on the run. The Archon hijacks the Orion to take him to their base further out in the system. The rebels are still chasing and the Orion, its crew and passenger(s) are caught in the middle.

58 • Persistent Patterns • 10 pages by Shane Tourtellotte
Good. Pavel and Lucinda are working with brain patterns in order to rehabilitate violent criminals and cure drug dependency. Pavel is worried that the procedure will become associated with criminals and away from his own problem of stuttering. Some conversations between the two that go from the ethics of the methods they are using to a debate of free will versus determinism.

76 • The Pristine Planet • 13 pages by Lloyd Biggle Jr.
Excellent. Gayne is vacationing on Bylanoff, visiting the symphonic rocks when there is a collapse killing all of the other spectators. Loffner is proposing that the planet is out to kill them. Part of his hypothesis is that Gayne has a predictive ability, and sends him off to check out other dangerous attractions. Interesting reading topped off by the clever ending.

90 • Shootout at the Nokai Corral • 44 pages by Rajnar Vajra
Very Good (part 2 of 4). The Greenstone kid escapes. He'll definitely tell Dirty Jake that John, who turns out to be Tornado Carter, is in town. The rest of the Dust Devils arrive in Sunstone. They make preparations, the most important being to get rid of the laser cannon the Mudslingers have. After the prep a good action sequence. Some humor and romance thrown in and a bunch of interesting characters. I'm on to reading the April issue.
