Shlomo: The devil was in the Diamonds

Rate this book
A rivetting thriller that reveals the darkest secrets of the international diamond cartel and finally breaks their unwritten code of silence!

Don't be fooled. Nothing is what it seems. A rough diamond can be perfect.

What is told funny can be deadly serious, and by the end you will be praying that this incredible story is only fiction.

When lawyer Max Waldorf meets diamond dealer Solomon Rickmann, the eponymous Shlomo, he becomes embroiled in a deadly web of diamonds and deep state politics.

With Max's wise counsel tempering his client's anarchic genius, Shlomo breaks through to the rarefied heights of the elite who control the world's diamonds.

He comes into contact with Jackie O and the men who not only decide the fate of nations but are also involved in the greatest unsolved murder of the 20th century.

Who killed JFK and why?

Ultimately, Shlomo will have to face his nemesis and the inevitable battle will not be long in coming.

Does Max have the skills to save him? Does justice really exist?

Highly recommended to anyone interested in geopolitics, the diamond industry, good music, or just in the mood for a great (legal) thriller

Reads like a mystery. Interesting novel about the rough diamond trade and it's closed, secret society. From the Lawyer point of view, of a Diamond Multi-Millionaire. How Diamond Dealers, Rich and famous, politics, FBI, CIA, the UN, Israel, and multiple countries control the release and prices of diamonds in very deceptive ways. People disappear because of blood diamonds. I won this e-book from Goodreads and the author, Jonathan Stern. Thank you!

Thank you Goodreads for giving me this opportunity to read Shlomo.

The writing style was different then what I was used to but after adjusting I really enjoyed hearing about the diamond world. The end was a little sad but I would recommend it.

I would also read more of "Jonathan Stern's" books if he writes more

Love the authors way of describing things most of us wouldn't notice. It's fun to read, lots of humor.

Incredible pageturner. A slow burn from the start, but I got rewarded quickly. The way the story was built up, is absolutely incredible and nothing like any other book I’ve read. Looking forward to new books by the author!

Diamonds

Stones have no intrinsic value. They are assigned value by people by way of marketing. Do you remember the pet rock? There is a diamond cartel that ascribes very high value to diamonds through the association with special occasions and by controlking supply from mining to sales. Shlomo is one diamond merchant. The book provides a lot of information about the diamond market. The main character, Shlomo is a weird character. The story is very strange. There are some parts that could be eliminated to improve the speed and flow of the story.

Diamonds are the tear drops of the Gods

In America, it's bling bling.
in Africa, it's bling bang.

What good is a journey without a real destination. I wasn't sure where this book was taking me.
I was thinking this was going to along the lines of the movie Blood Diamonds.
This turned out to be more illuminati cabal conspiracy controlling the world.
A good read with interesting characters.

this book is just BRILLIANT, loved reading it from beginning till the end. Hard to put it away, I just wanted to keep reading (if I didn't have kids running around who need some diner once and a while I probably would have kept reading). The story and characters get under your skin. You can sense the tension and emotions while reading. JUST LOVED IT!
