The quintessential Australian road trip meets vanlife in this family adventure, celebrating our diverse landscape through the gleeful gaze of a child.
Mum and Dad told me they’ve got a wild plan . . . We’re exploring Australia in a snug little van.
Ride along with Hunter as she discovers beaches and billabongs, paddocks and plains, forests and dugouts, and even underwater worlds. A big adventure awaits!
From Jessica and Stephen Parry-Valentine, the creators of travel channel Flying the Nest, comes a delightfully illustrated recount of a family road trip that celebrates Australia’s natural beauty.
This book is absolutely beautiful! I love Flying the Nest and Stephen and Jess have done such an amazing job. Ashlee’s illustrations are so cute and just add some much to this book. As you turn the pages look out for the little pink bunny on every page. Thanks so much for this book it is WONDERFUL!
Our Home On Wheels by Jessica and Stephen Parry-Valentine If you have a kid and your just about to start traveling this is the book to get. The art adorable and even got me wanting to see more of my homeland. That one picture of hunter at the lavender farm in Tasmania is actually something I've done and have happy memories off. 5 stars and highly recommend.
What a wonderful story based on real life adventures! The amazing illustrations take you inside the characters world. I want to know what the next adventure of this little family will be!
The illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful! I love the flying the nest family and it was pretty cool too see their videos as a book. It’s a great book for kids and parents that have that desire to travel and see beautiful destinations.
Children books usually tend to rhyme and while this book had some of that, I found that in some pages it didn’t have it and the book didn’t flow as easily in those occasions. It was still a beautiful and enjoyable book that shows and describes so much of Australia.
A great little story about a family's stops along their trip around Australia. Great book for anyone introducing the idea of a caravan trip to young kids to help them understand what might happen. Our toddler loved it.
I have been watching Flying The Nest on YouTube for a few years now. I used to just watch the odd video but since December 2019 I have watched them consistently.
They started their van life adventure during the pandemic and I used to really look forward to watching their journey with their toddler Hunter.
I love that they brought out this book, it looked so cute and I purchased it for my niece. I have also given it a read and think it is something kids will really enjoy. The illustrations are wonderful and and this would be a great introduction to Australia. I would also really recommend watching their van life series on YouTube.
This book is absolutely adorable! Definitely one of the best children's books I have ever read. My younger siblings love it when I read it to them and it has inspired them to love travel. I love the Flying the Nest YouTube channel, and me and my family are all subscribed and we watch the videos all the time. The illustrations are so cute, and have so many references to the flying the nest travels. My family travels a lot, and my little siblings love how they can relate to Hunter in this book as they watch her travel all around Australia. Well done Stephen and Jess!
This book is easy on the eye and soul. While the meter and rhythm is slightly off creating a rather awkward cadence, the intention and beyond gorgeous artwork makes up for this. Based on real life events, this trip around Oz inspires and entertains although feels much too short - which I'm sure it wasn't in real life.
This story is based on real life events when Hunter's parents decide to pack their van, and take the ultimate road trip around Australia. Read along and discover all the sights and sounds, and non-stop adventure that Hunter shared with her parents as the traversed to Australian landscape, all while living in the family van.
