From Israel and Palestine to Central America, this insightful series provides an overview of some of the most volatile flashpoints around the world, helping readers see the human toll and make sense of the history behind the headlines.
After some recent remarks by a representative of the U.S. government that were taken by some to be offensive and by others said to be taken out of context, my husband and I were hoping to find a book that offered an unbiased history of the Israel/Palestine conflict. When I found this book at the library, I was concerned that a small book couldn't possibly cover such a long & complicated issue. I was wrong. The history of the land claimed by Israel & Palestine was covered very clearly and concisely, giving no preference to either side. While I now understand the situation more clearly, I still have trouble understanding what, in our human nature, keeps us from being able to get along peacefully. The long history of anger, hatred, violence, and brutality from all the parties involved is heartwrenching.
