American Junkie: I Dreamt Of Clear Skies

Rate this book
“The concoction of pills an individual takes really tells you all you need to know about a person.” Cain was brought up in a broken city where drug use has become the norm and tents filled with the homeless line city blocks. Life has become bleak for so many that the only slice of heaven they can find is wrapped in a plastic dime bag. Cain, coming from a crime-ridden family, is no stranger to seeing and using violence on a regular basis. For him, dope offers some kind of escape from the grim reality of crime he’s taken up in order to survive on the streets.

When a chance encounter causes Cain to fall for Alexis, a pastor’s daughter from the wealthier side of town, the two begin popping, injecting, and snorting whatever they can to find a reprieve from their bleak environment. After Cain becomes witness to a murder, however, he finally decides enough is enough and takes measures to get him and his newly found love out of town. Will these two dope-dependent lovers be able to escape the city as well as their own addictions?

About the author

I've had a passion for writing ever since I was a young kid. I enjoy telling stories about dysfunctional people and situations that are far from perfect. With my writings I try to stick to a gritty and realistic setting, but also add a little bit of style and flair to the situations.

Within my stories my goal is to craft a compelling narrative and really flesh out the characters and make my readers feel when something bad happens to them. I write morally grey characters that you not only sympathize with, but also criticize at times. I continue to have a huge passion for writing these types of books, and I have a lot more stories to tell in the future so stay tuned!

A Captivating Tale

A well written story of youth, addiction, love, and heartache. This young author creates a gripping storyline with complex characters. I was immediately immersed in the lives of the characters and felt deeply connected throughout the entire book. Fast paced, intense, and emotional. A beautiful start for this author. I look forward to more books by this Austin Williams. Well done and congratulations!

It was a bit all over the place. I think the author is a novice. It's a bit glamorized and a lot of sensationalism that would be ok for this kind of book if it was better and had a point or a means to an end. It just kind of ends after a shallow plot and almost non-existent story line

Good but a lot happening

The story is definitely one that draws you in and leaves you feeling for the characters but its hard to follow sometimes. Still a great read and I'm glad I finished.
