In Hit World, everything is legal—if you pay the right amount to the right person with the right paperwork. LifeEnders, Inc. has made a lot of money taking all kinds of targets off the board—everything from an annoying boss to a rampaging monster from another dimension.
But there are some things no contract can cover. When a rival organization threatens to eat LEI from the inside out, they’ll need something beyond their licensed Shooters to counter their new enemy.
They’ll need Valkyries.
Meet the first fifteen women who may be tapped for the Valkyries Initiative. Through murder, magic, and mayhem, these women might save the world… or end it.
This is an anthology of stories taking place in the Hit World universe. All involve bad-ass women who become even badder assassins. I enjoyed it all even though I am not current on the universe. I sure hope there are novels to come with these characters.
I am the author of one of these stories; A Void in the Noise.
Void in the Noise blurb: For as long as Khloe Anne Bryce could remember she’d been capable of hearing heartbeats. Of listening in to one of humanity’s most intimate timepieces. Everywhere she went, every heart within earshot she’d been drowning in its symphony for years. Every one except her best friend’s and that of his entire mafia family. For reasons unknown to her and not told by him, he is a sphere of quiet. But these aren’t the only struggles she’s had to face; usually standing in Caillen’s presence meant peace but he’d been gone for weeks and now it was not just heartbeats trying to destroy her. She was going insane. Or, rather, it felt simpler to be going insane. Instead of seeing monsters when she turned around…
Khloe Bryce has lived in a small bubble of safety all her life but she’s about to find out there is a whole new world, or WORLDS out there for her to go insane in. She may be able to hear heartbeats but she soon discovers she’s capable of destroying them too, in maybe more ways than one.
Stick around, you might be hearing more from Khloe soon !!
I've read the entire anthology twice now, and really have just been completely happy with almost all the stories. Some weren't my cup of tea, but that's usually the case with anthologies. Most were, and I've been reading some authors I didn't know about before. Love that aspect!
