BETWEEN SAINTS AND SINNERS: UNDERSTANDING MEN - TRAPS AND TRIUMPHS OF TREADING LIFE AS A MAN

Rate this book
This book is about men’s lives and the range of roles they play. This includes their roles as providers, defenders and lovers. We, men, have barely started to reflect on these roles. Communication with others as well as reflection within oneself has never been encouraged for men. This book attempts to initiate these conversations and help men to reflect on various aspects of their lives. These discussions are therefore valuable for women also, to better understand and transform their relationships with men.

Probably the first book of its kind published in Pakistan, Dr. Ahmad, a clinical psychologist, delves into the various roles that men are supposed to perform (as providers, lovers), and issues of masculinity, of disconnect and of rejection and even their journey as spiritual beings is explored. But Dr. Ahmad makes it clear on page 18 that 'this book does not contain absolute truths' rather it is meant to get men (and women) especially from Pakistan, South Asia and South Asian diaspora to explore their behaviors, attitudes, thinking, and value systems and take a journey within.
