Adele Welsby Cross Stitch Characters

Rate this book
A beguiling collection of over 40 projects based on children's favorite many of them never previously adapted for cross stitching. Adele Welsby has applied her considerable talent to adapting some of the best-loved characters from books and videos for cross stitching fun. There's the hugely popular and irrepressible Wallace and Gromit; the Large Family, a group of elephants who echo the triumphs and disasters of everyday family life; gentle Percy the Park Keeper and his many animal friends; the self sufficient community of mice who inhabit Brambly Hedge; the imaginative Harry with his dinosaurs; and the bright and cheerful Little Misses and Mr Men. Each design is finished off in a unique way offering a wonderful source of ideas for creating gifts for new parents, children of all ages and simply the young at heart.

Very British and also somewhat dated by now. There are a lot of ideas offered for other uses for these projects besides the pictured ones! The amount of backstitch outlines is more than I would consider actually doing.

A pattern of Shaun the Sheep! How could I resist?! ;)

I'm familiar with three (Wallace and Gromit, Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs, and Mr Men and Little Miss) of the six character sets featured in this book (the other three are The Large Family, Percy the Park Keeper, and Brambly Hedge), but of the ones I am familiar with, the designs are very close to the original illustrations.

The patterns are bright, big and easy to follow, with a large variety of sizes and finishing techniques showcased throughout.
