She has a plan, and a budget, and now is the perfect moment to get in before the tourists flood in.
She doesn’t need his friendship, she doesn’t want his advice, and she definitely does not need his help—even if he has come back to the island with the kind of beard that dreams are made of, and a stick shoved so far up his ass she’s surprised it hasn’t popped out of his man-bun.
Big dreams, and an even bigger point to prove, she’s sticking to her man-ban no matter how big his man-bun is.
Ex-Marine, Mylo has come back with one mission in mind… to forget.
No panic-attacks, no flashbacks, and definitely no falling for a woman who deserves so much more than he has to give.
Giving in would mean letting her see past his scars to the broken parts that lay beneath. Letting her see would mean facing a past he barely made it through and surviving the fall out.
Welcome back to Clua, blue skies, white sands, and big, grumpy man-mountains.
Wow wow wow! Elle Wylee just gets better and better and keeps putting out phenomenal romance books.
I am in love with the island of Clua. This fictional island is definitely in my top 5 fictional places I would want to be. Small town vibes, hot locals, an amazing Beach Hut. Someone please take me there!
Kenzi and Mylo are EVERYTHING. Zi is very independent, strong-willed and a hard worker that pursues her dreams, even when others doubt her. I love a FMC like that. And Mylo, the huge Viking man with a man bun, is the sweet, charming man everyone loves, yet struggles with PTSD from the military.
Kenzi cares for Mylo so much with his PTSD and it was amazing to see the roles reversed. I’m quickly becoming obsessed with books where our strong FMC cares for the broken man. 🥺
And the SPICE. 😮💨 so well-written. So hot. That rooftop scene was one of my favorite spicy scenes EVERRRRR. And let me say, Kenzi took control twice and I AM HERE FOR IT. 👏🏼
5 ⭐️s. Easily. Go pick this one up asap!
👉🏼 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲: -small town island vibes -surfing -mental health rep -broken men -strong female MC -well-written spice -long haired Vikings -rooftop seggs scenes -ex military rep (PTSD) -amazing epilogues
I received an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review.
“Lie back.” His jaw tightens beneath his beard, and he drops his gaze to where my fingers have my belt in a death grip again. Then, in a move that settles deep in the core of me for the sheer sexy of it, he nudges my knees apart, grabs my waist and yanks me down the sofa until my bum’s on the edge and he’s wedged between my thighs. His jaw clenched, nothing on his face that even hints that he’s affected by the position he has me in. “Hold onto the cushions.” 🖤
I lost my virginity this weekend. My ARC virginity. @ellewyleewrites took it and I willingly handed it to her. They say you’ll always remember your first, and my dear book frinns, I will ALWAYS remember my first ARC.
Hopes and dreams are brought to the brink of collapse, kind of like Kenzie’s legs when Mylo FINALLY gets ahold of her. (Whoops! Did I say too much?) 🫢
4.5. ⭐️ for this I’m scared for my tortured past to collide with my beautiful present because I want to love her but I have to protect her so I’m going to push her away but lose my sh!t when she kisses another man. (Whoops! Did I say too much again?)
Once you read this, you’re gonna wish Elle took your ARC virginity too.
Huge thank you to the author, Elle Wylee for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I adored Safe in Clua, but I am in love with Surviving in Clua. This book had no business being this good and making me feel all the damn emotions - but it did! I devoured this one. When I reached the epilogue, all I wanted to do was start from the very beginning and read it all over again. I never wanted to say goodbye to these characters or the island.
If Clua existed in real life, I’d be on the next boat ride out in search of my very own Mylo. From the first book, I loved Kenzi and Mylo’s friendship. They had chemistry right off the bat and watching the slow burn heat up in the second was agony. I never wanted two characters to get together more than I did with these two.
Elle not only delivered on the raw emotions but also the spice. She hits a lot of hard subjects and she portrayed them so well, I found myself relating to Kenzi a lot more than I thought I would and wanting to wrap Mylo in a never-ending hug.
This book is a perfect blend of romance and emotional subjects and the hottest spice because Mylo is a Thor mountain man and I’d happily climb him like a tree as well.
If you haven’t heard of Elle Wylee, and you love indie authors I implore you to read this series. Her writing is impeccable, the romance and spice is perfection and these characters will burrow their way deep into your heart in the best way possible.
Read if you like: hot men with man buns, a man in uniform, strong and determined female MCs, small island vibes, paddle boarding, slow burn, sexual tension, hot spice, healing journeys, neighbors to lovers
Surviving In Clua is a story of love and trust, not only in others but also in yourself. It touches on heavy topics and Elle does it with gentleness, respect, and grace - her writing is BEAUTIFUL.
Kenzi is the picture of female empowerment - strong, successful, gentle, kind, hardworking, and most importantly, she knows her worth and what she deserves. Mylo is the man of my dreams (but like, for real. Elle Wylee shared her inspo for Mylo & let’s just say…that’s my type😂). He’s tall, strong, has abs of steel, a beard, is built like Thor and a Viking had a child, and has hair that I dream of. Not to mention he’s one of the sweetest, selfless, caring MMCs I’ve ever read.
Kenzi and Mylo stole my heart. Their relationship is built on unwavering support of each other, trust, vulnerability, and love. Mylo does everything to help Kenzi open her business, never doubting her - always pushing her to succeeed. Kenzi is a constant in Mylo’s life the minute he meets her. As much as he tries to fight his feelings, Kenzi barrels through his walls and never gives up on him
Kenzi shows Mylo it’s ok to open up, trust her, and be vulnerable with her. I love how both of them slowly peel back his layers because there is nothing I love more than seeing a strong, handsome man be vulnerable.
While Clua is a safe haven, Kenzi and Mylo are each others safe haven💛
Kenzi is a beautiful ray of sunshine. Smart, feisty and determined, if plan A doesn’t work she doesn’t hesitate to find a plan B, C, and D if that’s what it takes to make her dreams come true.
Mylo is a gorgeous giant redwood. A former Marine, he’s tall, scarred and tattooed with a sexy beard, man bun and muscles for days. Oh, and he isn’t afraid to hold a baby!!
Put these two together on an island paradise named Clua and you just know interesting things are going to happen! Kenzi and Mylo’s attraction is immediate but Mylo’s been Through It….not only as a Marine but in his personal life as well. Although drawn to Kenzi, his instinct is to push her away, but maybe he’s met his match in Kenzi…..she’s not one to back down from getting something she wants!
Surviving in Clua is so gorgeously written!! It’s one of those books that pulls you in and makes you forget it’s a book! It’s funny, emotional, sexy af and comforting all at the same time! I will be returning to Clua again and again and you should absolutely visit too!!
Guys this book. Book 2 in the White Sands series. It's so good. I just want to pack up and move to Clua.
Elle, thank you for giving us Mylo. This large, sexy, long haired bearded viking.. with a past that has left him vulnerable. A vulnerability that breaks your heart. But to watch him get put back together, because Kenzi was literally made for him and knows exactly when to push and how to save him from himself, was everything. And when we see the real Mylo.. YES PLEASE 🙌🏼🔥
Kenzi's determination and self worth is admirable. She's also so funny and real. I just want to be friends with her. Omg, and her drunk calls- pure gold.
It's incredible to see Kenzi and Mylo evolve, from their instant connection, to the hesitation, to sleep club, the push and pull that inevitably had them giving in, supporting one another and ultimately falling in love.
And if you know you me, you know I can't ignore a Massimo moment... So when I saw Elle sneak in a Massimo shower kiss reference I knew it was immediately going to be a 5 star read 🤣 But in all seriousness, Elle, you have become a new automatic buy for me. I love your writing, and I love you. Thank you for giving me the chance to read this ARC. I can't wait to share your talent with everyone!
HUGE shout of gratitude to the author for giving me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. Here it is.
🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
“A woman like me can do anything she puts her mind to.” - Kenzi, Surviving in Clua
My heart oh gods my fu*king heart! Elle why do you do this to us, my heart can't take the emotional wreckage Mylo inflicts on it...but it also craves it.
I was on the edge of my seat reading this over and over again. Jumping each time we get close to something real between these two beautiful souls. Mylo and his past makes my chest ache for him and throughout the whole story (when I wasn't wanting to slap him) I wanted to give him the longest man squishing hug ever.
First off if you’ve read book one in this series you know how absolutely gorgeous Clua is. It’s the perfect reading escape any day and the journey between Mylo and Kenzi is no different.
In this beauty we get...Slow Burn, Friends to Lovers, (slight) Second Chance Romance, Tattooed Military Man with a Viking Beard, and the hottest no physical contact scene I’ve ever read.
This book is one I will read time and time again as it gives that warm feel good energy. Plus I’ll never be able to drink hot chocolate again without thinking of Mylo.🍫☕️ IYKYK
It’s official, I want to move to Clua. I want to be friends with these characters. I want a girls night out with Kenzi, Laia, and Rae. I want one of these amazing men to sweep me off my feet and maybe enjoy some time on the couch (iykyk 😉).
In this next installment of the White Sands Series we are brought back to the beautiful tropical island of Clua but this time get Kenzi and Mylo’s story. Once again we get playful attraction and steamy interactions but also significant personal growth. Part of what I love about this book is the depth and real life issues that are dealt with (check trigger warnings for ptsd, attempted suicide). I loved watching Kenzi find herself and prove to herself (not others) how strong and capable she is. And Mylo- tall, bearded, long haired, muscular, sweep you right up and wrap you in his arms, Mylo. I loved seeing him learn how to open himself up and be vulnerable.
TRIGGER WARNING! Your heart will burst with the man that is Mylo!
To say I loved this book is an understatement. I loved Mylo and Kenzis relationship in Safe In Clua and loved getting to see it develop into something more in this book. It was filled with lots of fun and heartfelt moments.
Thor the viking is trying to ignore his past to move on with his future and it broke my heart to see his struggles and what he went through. How vulnerable he was. And Kenzi refused to give up on him, wanting to see ALL OF HIM. Wanting to show him how she sees him. She has such a quiet strength to her. Is resilient. And honestly just the kind of character I needed to read about right now.
Surviving in Clua by Elle Wylee is the second book in the white sand series. (It can be read as a stand alone but I would check out the first one it is also really good.) I loved this book! From the first page to the last page. I couldn’t put it down. The characters were amazing. I have a big book boyfriend crush on Mylo and Kenzie is an absolute sweetheart. The chemistry between these to was off the charts. The book does touch on some series topics, I felt they were handled so well and had me laughing and crying right along with the characters. I can’t say enough how much I loved this book, it is definitely going on my re read list. If you’re looking for a sweet and don’t forget spicy book with a great story and fantastic characters give this one I read. Elle Wylee has absolutely blown me away with each new book I read of hers and I can not wait to see what she brings us next.
I received an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review and a huge thank you to Elle Wylee for the chance!
This is book 2 in the White Sands series and while I haven't read book 1, better believe I'm about to fix that. I need more of these characters, their stories, imagining myself on the beach of Clua with a fruity cocktail in each hand...and moremoremore Mylo.
This. Man. *fans self* He had my heart breaking and melting at the same time. What female doesn't love a sexy, broody, tortured MC getting put back together by the beautiful, stubborn, independent but unsure-of-herself FMC? I loved every single page of this, and I hope there will be more books in the series!
Surviving in Clua is a neighbors to lovers romance that includes one sofa!
It had me hooked from the start because i was in love with Kenzie's character in the first book.
Kenzie is on a man ban because of her not so good choices in men. Then comes Mylo with his Thor like build and sexy as sin man bun. And to top it off he lives in the apartment right next door to Kenzie.
I loved their chemistry and how Mylo helped her with her dream project.
I 💯 recommend it if you love: Neighbors to Lovers Grumpy-Sunshine Slow Burn One Sofa/Bed Strong FMC Vacation Reads
We had small glimpses of Kenzi and Mylo in Safe in Clua, and even those short moments I was dying to get their book.
They have this undeniable attraction to each other, which of course they deny. Lucky for us, not for too long. There is a particular phone call that changes everything. And it was perfect!!
The journey and healing that Mylo takes is difficult but needed. And Kenzi is there to support him through that journey Kenzi needs someone to believe in her, and Mylo is that man!
The spice in this book is 😮💨
This is a standalone, but I highly recommend reading Safe in Clua first. And now after Surviving in Clua, I cannot wait! For the next book!
This next installment of the White Sands Series did NOT DISAPPOINT. Leave it to E. Wylee to hit the emotional the intense and the growth and the SPOICEEE all at the same time. I hope that made sense…. ANYWAY, I love this couple for so many reasons but I’ll give you just a couple. Mylo is one of those that is so weighed down by his guilt its drowing him. Sometimes we have to move on from our guilt to do the healing. And Kenzi, honestly I want to be her. She is absolutely fearless until shes forced to stand behind her dreams. I get that. Its not easy because there are nay sayers and people that you think are waiting to watch you fail. Well, whether they are or not, following our dreams, our callings takes hard work and a backbone. Dreams take courage and she learned that. Because when we fall down, we can cry about it for a bit but then we need to get back up and try again because if you really want it, you’ll do it.
“The moment everything changed... I knew that if I was surviving, I’d be surviving in Clua.”
Perfect timing. I read Surviving in Clua in the last remaining days of summer. It captures the summer feelings I needed before the season ends and transitions into fall.
Dreams. Everyone has them. It comes down to whether or not they do anything about it. Kenzi has dreams and is willing to do everything she can to make them a reality, even if the world seems to be throwing obstacles in her way.
Mylo escapes to Clua to forget. So much has changed since his time in the Marines. Dealing with the aftermath is brutal. Letting people in isn’t easy. Mylo must learn to adapt to everyday life and let someone in.
I could relate to both Mylo and Kenzi, with their negative and positive traits. People underestimate Kenzi. They are never looking beyond the blonde stereotype. She’s trying to find her purpose. In doing so, she started a lot but never seemed to be able to finish anything. Mylo is closed off. Letting someone in is like trying to break down brick walls. If someone ever manages to do so, it would be all worth the trouble. I wanted to shout at Mylo and Kenzi so many times in frustration. But thankfully, with everything they have been through, they manage to work it out.
Every time in Clua, you see something new and get a better picture. It makes you fall in love with it more every time. Clua is continually expanding. It feels like you are there yourself with a fuller picture and more characters.
Surviving in Clua can be read as a standalone. Although reading the rest of the books in the White Sands series improves the experience. I can’t wait to revisit Clua, whenever that may be.
Any other that can bring out real and raw emotions in me automatically deserves all the stars.
I knew the moment Elle wrote the first description of Mylo I was a goner. The one thing I love about Elle's writing is the fact that I can actually place myself in her story.. in the mind of every character she writes and get lost. Mylo and Kenzi were no different.
We met Kenzi in the first book in the series, 𝚂𝚊𝚏𝚎 𝙸𝚗 𝙲𝚕𝚞𝚊, and she is so likeable. She knows that she wants and she's determined to get it. Although she has some struggles to get there, Mylo comes in with his plan B. Honestly someone needed to give her a little push after her mother clearly has no faith in her. (Listen we don't hate her mother, we actually come to like her).
𝑀𝑜𝓏𝒶𝒾𝓀𝑒.
Mylo, my sweet sweet Mylo. This man has been through the ringer and how he is still standing is beyond me: 𝟭𝟬:𝟯𝟭. 𝟮𝟮/𝟰/𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵 the moment everything changes for him. Honestly, he's just the most perfect man and not to mention SEXY as hell when holding a baby. Listen Elle, you and I have to talk about Mylo's issue because that was UNFAIR!
Also, did I mention HES SEXY AS HELL HOLDING A BABY. Swoooooons
"𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒕"
The ending had me in tears like actual I-can't-see-the-pages tears.
𝟭𝟮:𝟮𝟲. 𝟭𝟮/𝟵/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 (The moment I lost control) 𝟭𝟮:𝟱𝟴. 𝟭𝟮/𝟵/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 (The moment Elle put me back together)
I'm so excited that I had one of the first opportunities to read this one. Elle, thank you ❤
This was a story about Kenzi and Mylo. We meet these characters in the previous book and they had instant chemistry. However, after a kiss between the two Mylo pushes Kenzi away and leaves town. Now, fast forward and Mylo is back. He is Kenzi's neighbor and they run into each other alot. They both fight their attraction, but lose the fight. Kenzi is all in, but Mylo has PTSD from being a Marine in the military and his fiance leaving him after a cancer diagnosis. He feels like he can not offer Kenzi all she deserves. Kenzi does not allow Mylo to push her away. They grow closer when he helps her open a restaurant, which is her dream. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend. It is my favorite in the series. I just love Kenzi and Mylo together. They were a good match. I was so happy they got their happy ending after working through their issues. Also, the spicy scenes were hot. 🔥 ⛱️ 🌊. I want to thank Author Elle Wylee for this ARC. 4 🌟.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Kenzi and Mylo’s journey. Kenzi has a plan and is determined that nothing will get in the way of her pursuing her dream. Mylo is a grumpy ex-marine, who is struggling as he suffers from PTSD. This is a beautifully written story which has friendships, emotions, intrigue, trust, and is a wonderful small-town romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
