Matthew Frank lives in Kent with his wife and three young sons. Between family life and work as an architect he tries to squeeze in a bit of mountain biking, scuba diving and midnight writing.
This is one of the best series I’ve read in a very long time. Stark’s character development over the four books is so brilliantly observed. He is a deeply troubled but amazing person who has a lot of doubt about his place in the world. His complete selflessness and sense of duty is both sad and beautiful and the description of his Queen’s award is one of the most moving chapters I’ve ever read. In this age when selfish indulgence is so common I was moved to tears by many of the things Stark and his companions achieved and represented and Matthew Frank’s writing was impeccable. I look forward greatly to whatever book he may write next…
Joe Stark #4. Character pretty unbelievable, and looking at 420 pages of guff I put it down. Don't think I will bother with more of this series (I haven't read any of the earlier ones). DNF so no rating.
