A secret society. A missing body. A town torn in two.
This story takes place between the events of The Accused Coroner (Book Seven of The Fenway Stevenson Mysteries) and The Offside Coroner (Book Eight).
When a member of a secret society is found dead in the local temple, Coroner Fenway Stevenson finds herself embroiled in an underground world where no one plays by the rules. The society leader turns hostile, the dead body goes missing, and an embezzlement scheme threatens disaster for the town. Can Fenway find allies to uncover the truth before the killer gets away?
Paul Austin Ardoin is the author of the Fenway Stevenson Mysteries. A California native with a degree in creative writing from UC Santa Barbara, Ardoin has also published short fiction and humorous essays in Bottomfish and Sweet Fancy Moses. His non-fiction articles about computer security have appeared in California Computer News and European Communications. He lives in the Sacramento area with his wife, two teenagers, and a menagerie of animals.
The Clandestine Coroner has an interesting, complex murder mystery to solve but Fenway has all the cards stacked against her. Can she figure everything out and get her man this time? Fenway is a wonderful character; however the supporting cast felt a little wooden and superficial. Well written with great dialogue and a smooth flow.
I rated this book a five star. Always an exciting who done it read. I have never been disappointed in any of this series of books . Two thumbs up. Looking toward for the next adventure.
I LOVE THIS SERIES IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. THIS WAS SUCH A QUICK READ WITH A VERY COMPLEX MYSTERY OF WHO-DONE-IT AND WHO-STOLE-IT STORYLINE. I HAD HALF OF IT FIGURED OUT SO I WAS HAPPY. ;D
