This is a very interesting book about the practice of slavery. It points out something called the Triangle of Trade, and what was traded for what, and how slaves became a part of this triangle. The book notes that there were 54,000 voyages across the Atlantic that involved the slave trade (between 1441 and 1880).
It also talks about how various countries practiced slavery, and how the first black slaves taken by Europeans were taken in 1441 by the Portuguese. It also notes that between 1 million and 2 million slaves died on the voyages to the Americas during the slave trading.
The book also discusses some slave rebellions at sea, and how the U.S. banned importing slaves in 1808.

As a resource for anyone needing information about the entire story behind the slave trade, this is a good book for any age. Filled with great illustrations, and easy-to-understand text, this book starts from the beginning of the trade, to the end. A nice book to add to any library's collection.
