The Jest

Play script. The comic plot of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT is cleverly and concisely arranged in this one-act, complete with original characters, ideas, language and fun. 4 males, 2 females. Unit set.

A steady supply of cakes and ale is stoutly defended by Sir Toby Belch, with the aid of the feisty Maria, Feste the Clown, and the witless Sir Andrew against the divinely deluded Malvolio. The romantic Countess Olivia is caught and confused in the action, and eventually, must reveal and control the elaborate machinations of the others. This easily mounted adaption plays approximately an hour. A great favorite, in numerous productions.
