He's been beaten down, exhausted. And they're not done with him yet. A plane crashed on his land, carrying a secret from the Russians. A secret they'll kill for.
And now Ben's been asked to figure out what it means.
Since finding The Phoenix Project in his backyard, Harvey Bennett has been on plenty of missions, around the world.
This one may be his toughest yet.
After losing his wife a week ago, Ben has been trying to cope with his new status as a single father to his daughter, Hope. But he's thrown back into the fray when a visitor he hasn't seen in years shows up on his doorstep:
His own brother.
He hasn't truly spoken with the man for years, but his brother wants his help.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story has Ben's spirit down since he lost gis wife a week earlier. He doesn't want to do anything. Reggie shows up and convinces Ben to come with him to the hotel. As you remember from an earlier story, Ben & Julie's cabin was destroyed. Reggie and Ben go to a dinner and meet up with Julie's parents wha are watching Ben's daughter Hope who was born at the same time Julie died. Ben was not in a great mood, but was glad to see his daughter. At the dinner Julie's parents and Reggie convinced Ben to meet with a person and hear what he had to say. Ben, agreed to go.
The next day Ben and Reggie are at the location and Ben has been told quite a few things when a unexpected event happened.
The rest of the book lays out a tale that will keep your interest as it talks of a mission and extols all of the obsticals that are thrown at the COS team in addition to the stranger that Ben was talking to. When you get to near the end, the actions that Reggie, Ben and Ember, a partner of the person Ben taked to, and what steps finally brought them all together again.
The story is a definite winner and continues the excellent serie that Nick Thacker writes.
Number 13 of the series, Ben with Reggie and the CSO team head off to Siberia to try to foil a Russian businessman’s plot.
Their problems start with trying to figure out exactly what the end game is here. They’re constantly battered by a lack of information, hired mercenary goons, being split apart and captured.
In the end, there’s a cliffhanger, and a probable rematch in the next book in the series.
WOW! Although reading your 13 books in-a-row was exciting, your #13 was not, sorry! Predictable and not as well researched as the first 12, it leaves us in suspense BUT not really that much...Maybe I suffer from reader fatigue (!) but this last book left me with "another one, really?" feeling and happy that it is not out yet. My first limited 4 stars, sorry! Please let us know when # 14 will be available once "beefed up"!
Great read. The team travels to Russia after Ben's brother joins the group, and Ben is reunited with Julie and his daughter Hope. A very riveting test of each other's abilities to provide for the team. Venolove Manufacturing becomes the culprit for OSC to figure out what is happening. With twists and turns to keep you deeply involved. You will, in the end, try to figure who is right and who is wrong!
Started with a jaw dropper, in a good way after the ending of last one then ended with a jaw dropper, not in a good way with many twists, turns, and surprises in between that really keep you on edge. Next one is shaping up to be humdinger for sure. This is my honest review of an ARC, and I recommend you read it.
I couldn’t finish this. The idea of chemical weapon being produced in a Russian lab was interesting….think Wuhan. But the science, chemistry, etc. was just way over my head and I was bored. Maybe I’ll pick it up to finish if I ever find myself without a book to read. Hm…no…probably not gonna happen.
While the writing is generally juvenile, and the main characters always escape disaster, the plots are just getting ridiculous. In book 12, it was The Faction organization which was going to end the world. Yet, in this book 13 there’s not one mention of them. Just yet another evil guy. Enough.
THE EPSILON EVENT is a fast action thriller that will keep you turning pages until the very end! It’s a roller coaster ride from Alaska to Siberia with surprising sharp turns along the way. I loved it! I reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
This is another great book by Nick Thacker and it looks like there will be another one. These are the 1st books I have read by him I have read But I will be reading them all now.
It appears someone is trying to decrease the world population by effecting food production. Ben, Julie and Reggie are trying to track down the person or persons behind it all. Action packed and full of twists and turns, with a startling discovery.
Fast paced and a learning experience in chemistry and biology. World population is growing and we need food and water to survive. Can we do it? Yes we are strong.
For those who enjoy thrill filled adventures, this is a must!
I was hesitant about this book after the way the previous book ended. I knew the story had not come to an end but was unable to come up with a scenario that would make sense and allow the adventure to continue.
Did not see it coming! This is why Nick Thacker is such an awesome writer!
From the moment I stepped into the book, I was hooked, all the way to the end. I would almost be willing to say that this one is the best so far, but guessing the next one will be even more extraordinary. The story was intense, glad to see some of the earlier “questions” solved/resolved, but with Nick’s ability to turn the story on it’s head at any moment, one might suspect more revelations and surprises are on the horizon (in the next book!).
The core characters are like old friends, although I would like to see Reggie be a little more aggressive as he was at the beginning of the series. I enjoy new characters being added and always hope they will stick around for a few more stories.
I am a huge fan of Harvey Bennett adventures, and this one certainly did not disappoint, other than being over and having to wait for the next adventure to begin. Definitely recommend this book.
