About the author

Anita Ganeri is a highly experienced author of children’s information books, specialising in religion, India/Asia, multiculturalism, geography, biography and natural history. She became a freelance writer after working at Walker Books (as foreign rights manager) and Usborne Publishing (as an editor). Since then, she has written over 300 titles, including the best-selling Horrible Geography series for Scholastic. The series won the Geographical Association Silver Award in 1999 and was cited as being ‘an innovation that all geographers will applaud’. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society where she conducts most of her research for the books.

The Easter Story is a brightly colored large picture book, detailing the events of Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. Having used this book in the classroom, it provided a reasonably in depth look at the events prior to Jesus being crucified, such as The Last Supper. It can be argued that in some areas, the book is a little vague in actually defining why Jesus was arrested. That being said, it still provided a large amount of information of the notable events that happened during Easter and their significance within Christianity.

Having used this book in the classroom, I found that all of the children absorbed the information very well. Children can be asked to recall the events within the Easter Story in chronological order and explain each events significance. I would recommend using this for both KS1 and lower KS2 years.
