Space Ownership with Blockchain and DAO: Building your own decentralized organization from scratch

Rate this book
Problems arise when a traditional organization, be it a large manufacturing company with thousands of employees or a local coffee shop ran by a couple of friends, does not offer or maintain enough transparency, credibility, and/or democracy.
Governance rights and decision making capabilities are often controlled by a handful of people or organizations which usually represent an established group of interests. What comes as a result is that decisions are usually made behind close doors without a healthy level of transparency. Apart from transparency, it is even more difficult, if not impossible in many cases, for ordinary participants to influence any critical decisions.
Take Google for example. Users of its services and the Internet in general do not possess any kind of ownership over how Google operates. Nor do the users, who, by the way, are undoubtedly Google’s most valuable assets, have transparency over how critical decisions are made. Take the big banks for another example. They keep your money deposited into their custody and you get a numbered balance showing up in your account page. The rest of what goes on is abstracted away from you as an end user of the banking services.
This book introduces an innovative approach that attempts to solve the aforementioned problems, using blockchain technology, smart contract programming, and the concept of DAO, i.e., Decentralized Autonomous Organizations. This book will provide you with real-world examples and hands-on implementations that will allow you to recreate a DAO of your own step by step. Codes will be explained, deployment processes will be carried out, and the final look-and-feel of the product examples will be presented. By following this guide, you will be able to implement core features of a DAO, such as a fully-decentralized voting mechanism that is not dependent on any centralized entities. All the resources you would ever need would be revealed to you absolutely free. In other words, cost of building your own DAO would be your time and effort. Good luck.
