I swear I was born with a book in my hand and that is how I spent most of my childhood. That was fine until I got older and the voices in my head demanded to be heard and I started to write. The voices are no quieter but there are less of them.
I really needed to catch up on this wonderful series, and I did love this one Clay Wilson is the eldest of the Wilson siblings and sheriff of Wishbone, he is popular and very well loved, he is yet to find his forever love, because there has been someone in his heart since he was a young boy and he knows she is the one, so when Kate Miller returns to Wishbone, Clay is hoping that life might change for him.
Kate has not been to Wishbone for many years and has put that part of her life well behind her, but when her uncle passes away and leaves her his house with a few stipulations and with what has just happened to her she goes back and the first person she meets up with is Clay her best friend as a child.
Kate has to get her uncle’s garden ready for the annual garden walk and she has a short time to bring the garden back to what is was and she is determined to get that done and sell the place and go back to her city life, but now she finds herself the owner of a dog and cats something she is not happy about she is not the little girl who came to Wishbone all those years ago.
Clay is determined to get to the bottom of the changes in Kate, will he be able to get her to open up and will he be able to convince her that love and happiness can be found in Wishbone with him? It is not long before Kate is seeing things in a different way and memories of her past time in Wishbone are making her smile but can she get over all that has happiness to her to look to a future with Clay?
This is a beautiful story filled with emotion, it is sure to make any romance reader smile, I do highly recommend this one. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
Kate and Clay were friends when they were younger, Clay couldn’t understand what went so horribly wrong when one day Kate never returned until 22 years later. Clay knew he had to win her heart and stop her from leaving him again.
Texas Lawman by Ann B. Harrison, book two in her Wishbone, Texas series, is a sweet and enjoyable second chance story. Sheriff Clay Wilson never forgot his long lost childhood friend Katherine Miller; in fact, measuring all woman against her. Kate returns to Wishbone, Texas after the death of her uncle and being bequeathed his home. Kate will stay long enough to follow the instruction left in her uncle’s will, then plans to sell it and try to restart her journalistic career. Clay has at most six months to convince her to change her mind. It didn’t take long for him to wonder what happened to Kate after her last visit, when she was ten, and during the time since. Gone is Kate the animal lover. The small town loving girl has been replaced with a big city snob. Clay definitely has his work cut out to convince Kate that she is actually hidden beneath the layers, hidden away because of some fear. Now, Clay needs to figure out what caused those fears and changes, and to convince Kate they belong together. Pretending to be engaged is a start.
Ms. Harrison wrote an emotional and enjoyable romance that should definitely not be missed. She provided a story with off the chart chemistry, interfering family members, and charming secondary characters helping Clay and Kate not only return her uncle’s garden to prize winning shape, but to once again fall in love. I enjoyed and highly recommend Texas Lawman to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Set in Wishbone Texas, Texas Lawman is a sweet western romance. Kate Miller is back in town to prepare her uncle’s home, which she inherited from him, for sale so she can get back to New York and continue with her life as a magazine editor. She’s not prepared to be confronted almost immediately by Sheriff Clay Wilson, who was her childhood friend and with whom she shared her first kiss at the age of ten. Clay has held a torch for Kate since she left town when she was ten and he’s keen to show her why staying in Wishbone and starting a life with him is just what she wants and needs. With plenty of family and community involvement, Kate starts to unwind and become invested in the home she’s inherited and the animals and birds she shares it with. The fake boyfriend trope came into play as Clay came up with a reason to move into the house with Kate, ostensibly to help her whip her uncle’s garden into winning shape for the upcoming garden competition. While I enjoyed this story I found the dialogue a bit stilted at times and for me it didn’t really feel natural or entirely appropriate for that part of the United States. I did like the strong family themes; it always makes me feel good to find family rallying to support each other and in this story there was plenty of community involvement as well. If you’re into feel good romances that don’t demand too much thinking then this story just might hit the spot.
Clay, the sheriff of Wishbone, and Kate, his old friend, meet again when she comes to fulfil the terms of her uncle's will. She has changed a lot since he saw her, when she was ten. She's become a city girl. He's sure underneath it all, she's the Kate he remembers. Kate has changed because of circumstances and can't understand how her uncle didn't support her and her mother. Miscommunication abounds. A great read from Ann.
Clay and Kate were childhood friends, but she went away for a while and didn’t return. She would stay with her Uncle Todd and she and Clay would enjoy the summer together. Todd left her his place in town and when she returned, she was a totally different person. Clay wasn’t going to let her get away with this behavior. She had the garden walk as part of her inheritance. Just a sweet story, enjoy .
This is second book in series and my second book by this author. Excellent story line. Makes you feel like one of the family. Totally enjoyable series. Will definitely be buying next book. Only thing of note, there were a few grammatical errors. Minor, but noticeable to me as I proofed manuals for years.
