Multi-Author Projects, or MAPs, can be extremely profitable for everyone concerned provided they are run correctly. As someone who has both participated in many MAPs, as well as run several very successful MAPs, I've decided it's time to pass on my hard-earned knowledge.
Any author who has been in my MAPs can tell you they've had an excellent return each time. The majority have earned each author at least $1k per book during the active period of the MAP, with several earning far more.
Run poorly, authors will earn only hundreds, and that, to me, is very disappointing, especially since a well-run MAP will see books continue to earn over time.
But everyone needs to play their part. Each person involved is equally important to the success of multi-author projects.
To that end, I've aimed this book not only at those who run these wonderful projects, but also the authors who want to participate in them. Managed well, MAPs can be the life-blood of many authors, not only earning thousands of dollars from them every year, but also expanding their reader base as a result.
*There's also a lot of information in this book that can be used for authors writing their own series.
Walking down the street and watching people go about their day-to-day life, but thinking strange, even dangerous things.
I still clearly remember the day I stood at the traffic lights in downtown Melbourne. There she was, sitting in her car, waiting for the lights to change green. Tapping her fingers impatiently.
Something inside my head went off. Kaboom! An idea formed, and became the beginning of a novel.
Instead of sitting patiently at the lights, she was nervous, extremely anxious as she was being pursued by killers. The next thing she knew, an angry, crazy man was slamming her windscreen with a sledgehammer and she was running for her life.
