Have you found that you can’t read the Bible without being sent back into a painful place? Have the Scriptures been twisted to keep you in bondage? The real Jesus wants to set you free.In Untwisting Scriptures to Find Freedom and Joy in Jesus Book 4, Wolves, Hypocrisy, Sin Leveling, and Righteousness, Rebecca Davis addresses the accusations made against victims and survivors of abuse through words like “you're the worst sinner you know,” “all Christians are hypocrites,” “get the log out of your own eye,” and more, examining the Scriptures behind them.
She explores harmful messages that have been delivered in the name of God by twisting the concepts of Righteousness and Wickedness, treating all sins as equal and allowing wolves to proliferate in the churches.
A toxic faith needs to be deconstructed and rebuilt on the solid foundation of the true Lord Jesus Christ. Untwisting Scriptures does this by faithfully examining word meaning, context, and the heart of God for His people. This book will untwist and present the beautiful truth of God’s Word, exposing sin where it needs to be revealed, and offering hope to those who desperately need it.
Scriptures can be untwisted. You can walk away from the spiritual abuse of “We're All Hypocrites/Pharisees/Wolves” without losing a relationship with God.
In fact, you may just find a Jesus you never knew.

Very interesting, gracious, clear, well thought out perspective. This is an important book to examine beliefs. I felt the additions of other people from blog posts, personal correspondence, etc. detracted from the message of the book. It made the book feel more like a casual social media post, than the important book it is.
This is the first book that I have read in the Untwisting Scriptures series.
I like that each chapter contains a section called “Untwisted Truth” that summarizes the main points of the chapter. While I agree with many of the conclusions in the text, there are some points that simply rub me the wrong way.
The author makes some assumptions that the reader is familiar with terms such as “blood colored glasses”, “sin leveling”, and “metanoia”. None of these terms was familiar to me.
I received this book FREE from the author, publisher, distributor, or other source. My only obligation is to provide a fair and honest review.

I'm not sure what I thought of this book as a whole. Some sections were very good, others felt like she was taking twisted scripture and twisting it the opposite direction. She said in the book that she felt like a minority because she was not abused in the church. A non Christian reading this book would be completely turned off to the church. However, this book is written to the Christian who has been abused and explains how some scripture is twisted to manipulate the victim. From that perspective the book makes more sense. I'm eager to read more reviews as they come out. I just think there are better books on this topic.
This book, along with the other 3, is so important to those who grew up believing what has so commonly been twisted and taken out of context. She logically talks through the distortion and brings to light the joyful truth of what God was really saying. When reading, you feel like she is in the room having a conversation and sorting it all out for you. Highly recommend all 4 books to alleviate false guilt and the feeling that being a Christian is a burden and you can never be good enough to really make God happy with you.
Another great book by this author. Her words are freeing and empowering, and always point to the beauty and awesomeness of Jesus. For me this book was the best one of the series so far.
Book four of the Untwisting Scriptures series by Rebecca Davis, this volume on Wolves, Hypocrisy, Sin Leveling, and Righteousness is eye-opening. It dives into how spiritual wolves pull Scripture out of context or misinterpret them in order to excuse the gross sin of their brethren. At the same time, those who have been victimized are accused of being unforgiving and failing to move on.
