No one has seen Antoine since he left to play European basketball a decade ago. It's disconcerting when he shows up claiming he needs to protect me from the "gray ones." I think he's a card short of a full deck.
Lee and I are moving to Baltimore next month. I haven't found the right time to tell Mama and Daddy the exciting news. No, there's no ring yet. Still, I'm sure Lee has just been too busy to propose. Right?
I need to clear out my caseload before leaving town. My clients are not being helpful. I'm running all over North Alabama searching for my client's scorned wife to stop her from offing the couple's dog.
Dusty talks me into one more ghost hunt before I leave. I wouldn't have agreed, but we've been there before.
Something about returning to the Imperial theater makes my blood chill.
When the "gray ones" appear, I realizeI may not live to see my moving day...
I learned early it's not acceptable for me to talk about the weird things I see at night or the whispering voices in my room. They told me there's no such thing as ghosts. Dead folks don't hang out in little boy's bedrooms, and I have an overly active imagination.
They were right about the imagination.
Later, I discovered that while talking about "such nonsense" is taboo, writing stories about paranormal events is acceptable. I've been hooked ever since.
You may find the female characters in my books to be ridiculously smart, tough, resourceful, and occasionally a hot mess. This is not only because I find this style of protagonist intriguing. Writers write what they know. Where I come from, most women fit into this category.
April May Snow, the protagonist in the prequel series The Gifts Awaken and the full-length novel series Foolish, is a young woman who personifies a strong woman. She just doesn't know it yet.
The April May Snow books are a paranormal women's fiction series. They are not a midlife series. Considering the multitude of dangerous situations April finds herself in, they might be past her midlife. Let's hope not. I've come to love her and hope you will, too.
To round out my Bio, I was born in San Diego and raised in Birmingham. I like to think I keep a California surfer's attitude toward life most days while conversing in a heavy Southern drawl.
I now live a few miles outside of Nashville. Since I can't play the guitar, which is a genuine impediment to being a successful country music singer, I continue to write books, which I enjoy immensely. I hope you'll receive as much joy from reading one of my books as I get from bringing it to life.
I believe to actually understand what is taking place here you really need to start with book 1 of this series. If I had done that, I may have had some other feelings for the character of April other that frustration and wanting to help the "gray ones" take her away. She seems to be a bit of an airhead and is totally unable to make any rational decision about her love life...and if she had actually let her client's wife lay one finger on the dog, I would have been done with the book much sooner. I don't believe that I am going to devote any more reading time to this series although I do feel that in all fairness to the author, I should at least read book one before giving it up.
Whew, that was scary! I had always hoped April would wise up and see how good her life would be in Guntersville. Now I know she has to go. Sad. I have always regretted leaving my small town for the big city. Guess for some of us its a must do. So happy the dog had a happy ending and the private investigator looked like a keeper. The CPA was well done and how will she function without her brothers? But my biggest concern is Lee. What a problem! My advice is to call her friend from college that works in DC and forget about Lee that wants you at home but will expect you to understand when he travels for away games?? Naw y'all we have a problem!
REVISION: It is obvious these books are written by a man. Even when April goes to the beauty school to get her nails done, when never gets a trim or a blow dry. She also never puts on a lick of makeup!!!! She showers and brushes her teeth (good girl!) Also what is she going to do with Puppy?
I've been binge reading this series. I took a break because I was getting frustrated with April. Okay, it was only a day because I am invested. This book reveals so much more than expected. In her personal life, April still seems to think out of desperation. I'm not sure why she refers to Lee as her fiancé. There's no ring, as far as I remember. He doesn't seem to want to marry her. He is controlling and needy. Plus, he doesn't want her dog which should be a bigger deal to me. She just seems emotionally immature. The paranormal aspect is riveting in this book. Readers learn so much and are left wanting to know more.
I can't wait for the next adventure of Ms. April May Snow. Will it be an interesting law client, settling down with her true love (whomever that might be!), or another paranormal skillset? Based on the books so far, it will be some combination, set in a well described Southern locale. I just wish there was a waffle or pancake restaurant in Fayetteville. Lol
Just finished #7 of "April May Snow" and enjoyed them all. Her family is unique and really supports April through her strange self-made directives. It all fits somehow in their small southern town. Trying to grow up and fulfill her big dreams, April returns home, feeling back at square one and let down, to find out the world has gone on without her. She has magical talent that is growing and a new world to tackle. Lots of fun! And ghosts!I
Good book! April is a good lawyer, good sister, an okay friend, but a terrible girlfriend. She is the ultra 'it's all about me. She does not know how to tell the men in her life no. It is also why these books are so funny. Hope she gets a clue before it's too late. Loved the book especially the humor.
I have now read all seven books in this series, and I am really looking forward to the next book(s). Great characters, an interesting overall plot, and a true Southern feel. I highly recommend this series, and you do need to read in order so that you understand April and her motivations.
I have really enjoyed all the books in the series till I got to this one. I know it’s fantasy but it’s just to far. Cute series that could have gone a different direction.
Excellent writing. The characters are very human and have flaws. The story line is changing in this book. A little repetitive but it makes this book a stand-alone. I would highly recommend this book.
I loved this series. April is smart , funny and is definitely learning how to kick some booty ! I think my sister would enjoy these books as well. Side note = I liked Dusty and Chase as much as I did April.
What a story! It got spooky in this one and of course I read it at night. April's relationship is cockeyed and she runs into a stalker demon with an over inflated ego. Things are heating up but April is up for the job. Great book and amazing story and characters.
I just HATE it when I fall in love with a character and there's no more to read! I suppose I will have to be patient and await April's next adventure! Hurry up, Mr. Swanson!
Wow. Great book. April is discovering more about herself and her gifts. The confrontations with ghosts are getting scarier but are so exciting. April rules!
I've made it this far and each book is as entertaining and well written as the last. And finally April has some personal growth. We all needed that for her.
Getting tired of April May’s indecisions regarding her love life. The ghost incidents were a little too far fetched. Not sure if I can read any more in this series
I have really enjoyed all 7 books. The story about April and her family is so good I could hardly out the books down. Can't wait for number 8 to see what's next.
Gets better and better. Once I start reading can't put down. I love her interaction with family and friends. The character is a little spoiled. Falls in and out of love to easily. A very good attorney which I like about the character. The supernatural parts are very intense. Can't wait for more stories.
