The book “the Seer and the Witness“ is one of those books that if you think about it as a standard poetry book, you’ll never completely understand it. In fact, I would argue you wouldn’t understand it at all. Because what is here is less What I would consider traditional poetry, and more of an exegesis of the soul, combined with a deep knowledge of mythology to produce something to a shamanic work. It’s prophecy in the purest, pre-Christian sense, a blending of contemporary and mythological perspectives to provide something that neither could touch alone.
It touches on contemporary experience, contending with what I felt was the deep malaise of a mind out of time, somewhere between worlds, maybe trapped in a depressive spiral and seeking to find meaning. And through doing all of this, they created something meaningful.
It was 1000% evident to me that the person that wrote this has a way deeper knowledge of mythology and archetypal work than I do, which says a lot.
It’s rare that you find someone who can express psychological insights incisively through poetry without coming off as being over written. It breaks with traditional form to provide an even deeper function… It reads like a stream of consciousness personal prophecy, shared with the world. And I’m happy that I took the time to experience it. Whatever’s coming next, I’ll be waiting at Delphi.

This beautifully designed short pagan book of poetry explores life, love and death through different types of mythology entwined with references to modern life which adds a hint of satire.
It is dark and rich in original imagery and though you can read it in the time it takes to drink a coffee, each time you read it again you will discover something new to ponder over. Also, the illustrations are beautiful.

While this collection may have been short, its impact was vast. Freyja’s delicious choice of diction leaves the reader at the edge of the page, hungry for more. The art is gorgeous, and extends to each poem in the chapbook, complimentary to its dark beauty. I did find strange that there was no backmatter, but that has little importance to me. Freyja crosses mythological tropes and curates stories in the form of poetry. Overall, a wonder debut collection the author should be proud of. Anyone with interest in mythology, paganism, magick or poetry would enjoy this chapbook. Hope to see more.

This poetry collection is an amazing journey - full of evocative spiritual imagery and clever wordplay set off by stunning illustrations.
While it is not a large book, it is a feast for the senses.
