Der Verlag Der Buchhandlung Des Waisenhauses Zu Halle: Bibliographie Der Drucke (1698–1728)

Rate this book
When the Pietist pastor August Hermann Francke began establishing an orphanage and schools for all estates before the gates of the city of Halle towards the end of the 17th century, he funded them by setting up for-profit companies. One of these was the publishing enterprise run by the orphanage booksellers, which produced significant theological, educational and scientific works from the end of the 17th century until into the 20th century. The present detailed bibliography, containing 1650 titles, is the first to register the works produced by this renowned publishing house from its beginnings to the death of the first Inspector, Heinrich Julius Erler in 1728.
