In this adventure, Andy Pandy, Teddy and Looby Loo make themselves a little house under the spreading branches and leaves of a willow tree that is in Andy's back garden. Once inside their little house they feel that it just like being 'in a little green house'.

One day Andy and Teddy decide to spend the day there; they carry out some chairs and a table and then they go to get Looby Loo and some other toys. They also get together a picnic basket and take that along, too. The exertion tires Andy and Teddy so they have a snooze while Looby looks after everything and even drives off a bee that happens to get into the house.

When Andy wakes up he gets milk and some cherry buns out of the picnic hamper and sets them out on the table. Teddy goes on sleeping, however, so Andy decides to wait his waking up. Looby spots that Andy is waiting and looking longingly at the fare so, sneakily, she gives Teddy a poke to awaken him.

Soon they are all three sitting at the table enjoying their food and agreeing between them, 'This is the nicest house in the world.' Then they spot a blue tit coming out of a hole in the tree trunk. Four baby blue tits join their mother and Andy says, 'Look, they've come to tea. We must give them some pieces of bun.'

However, it is not easy to do so as they are too high on the branch and only the mother is capable of flying down to pick up morsels of cake. Andy therefore gets Teddy on his shoulders and then all the blue tits can enjoy the cake. Then Andy cannot hold Teddy any longer and he falls to the ground with Teddy on top of him. 'What a good thing the grass is soft,' says Andy.

The mother tit sees their problem and, because they have been so kind to her and her children, she flies down, picks cherries out of the buns and feeds them to Andy, Teddy and Looby. Andy's final comment is, 'This really is the nicest house in the whole world.' And another charming Andy Pandy adventure is over.

I'm probably a fairly harsh reviewer of children's books. I make my assessment based on how happy I would have been to read and re-read the book out loud to my children. Thankfully we didn't have too many Andy Pandy books, because, although the illustrations are pretty, the story is unremarkable.
