During World War I, vila warrior Jerina Ventus’s life irrevocably changed when she saved a wounded soldier’s life and helped him return to his hometown in Colorado. Twenty-five years later, she’s restless and longing for another adventure beyond her forest. Little does she know, her sister Kosa will deliver the opportunity to her.
Thane Beltaine grew up hearing stories about the beautiful and fierce immortal warrior who saved his father’s life. When Jerina’s sister Kosa shows up in his hometown on the arm of a wicked mage, Thane volunteers to find Jerina and bring her back. He never expected to meet the woman who was more legend than real and definitely didn’t think they would clash about every little thing.
Jerina’s temper and patience are tested as they travel to Colorado to rescue her sister, who at first seems reluctant to be saved. She needs to outsmart the mage and find a way to release Kosa from his control, and she needs Thane’s help to do this.
Reluctantly, they work together to save Kosa, and an unexpected love begins to grow. But vila are cursed to never find true love—and if they do, he will quickly die a gruesome death. Every town has stories of its past, and Havenwood Falls is no different. And when the town’s residents include a variety of supernatural creatures, those historical tales often become Legends. This is but one.
This is a stand-alone historical fantasy tale in the Havenwood Falls shared world, a collaborative effort by multiple authors across multiple series all in the paranormal fantasy genre, allowing readers to discover new authors and stories to fall in love with.

I have said it time and time again I love Havenwood Falls and the many different characters that are within this hidden town. We are introduced to Jerina who is a vila warrior and she is to protect her people that live in the forest. They are not to interact with humans yet some go and entertain men so to speak. When her sister Kosa seems to fall in love and leave, Jerina will find herself saving her sister. It seems that sometimes the past will come back to us in more than one way and we face it head on. When Jerina comes to Havenwood Falls you can tell she is in love with the town. Just the way the author writes her expressions it is awesome. Though what Jerina will uncover is that there is a reason her sister is in Havenwood Falls. Jerina will have to have the help of Thane the son of someone she saved years ago. With learning how to rely on the help of others she will stop at nothing to get her sister free yet while doing so she will find love.....yet Jerina's kind can not fall in love death will be involved. There will be plenty of action and sister love going on. Can't wait to read more.
Changing Fate is the story of a vila, a beautiful warrior named Jerina whose past comes knocking when her sister disappears and she finds herself in the town of Havenwood Falls as she sets out to find her. During her journey, she sees the familiar face of a soldier she helped twenty-five years ago. Then she meets his stubborn, egotistical son who volunteers to help Jerina find her sister and Jerina winds up clashing with and having conflicting feelings for. If that's not complicated enough, turns out her sister has been kidnapped and possessed by a sinister mage. In the end, it's all about Jerina not only saving her sister, but tempting and, ultimately seeking to change fate when it comes to the vila curse and men. Ms. Webster did a good job painting a truly evil being who views women as property to be leached off of and believes that one is not enough. I also appreciated that Ms. Webster elected to make Jerina out to be this kick butt, independent warrior who has a weakness for ice cream. It made her seem more relatable and real. Being a historical paranormal fantasy series, the author did scatter in references here and there to the time period about twenty-five years after World War I. Since this was my first go round with the supernatural species, I found myself wanting to learn more about the vila and their beliefs and upbringing. Ultimately, this didn't take away from a good story. Overall, good installment to the series.
Once again the new addition to the legends of Havenwood Falls was not a disappointment. This one doesnt take us back as far as some, but it still makes for a beautiful story. The flow of the book was perfect and they did an excellent job with the other characters they brought in, they were the same as they should be.
There was a time that I even cried and screamed at the author. Maybe I will forgive her if I get more of Thane and the sisters.
Char Webster has created some truly unforgettable characters and added them to the Havenwood Falls collection. The book is an amazing read that has some epic moments as well as ooh shit moments. The characters are fun, quirky and totally fit into Havenwood. I loved seeing the previous owner of the inn and seeing her in action. Jenina is totally a kick ads warrior and Thane even though he can be smug he is absolutely delightful. I loved the story and you need to check it out.
Havenwood Falls has added another great addition to its franchise with Char Webster's Changing Fate and Char herself. Jerina after being restless gets told by her sister Kosa who has some secrets to hide, to go see an old friend. After Kosa leaves Jerina goes after her only to find Thane the soldier she saved during ww1 son, who then takes her to Havenwood Falls. After meeting with her friend she finds out that her sister is taken with a mage that was asking a whole lot of questions about Jerina herself when she was in HWF years ago. the rest you will have to read to find out
Jerina is restless and getting kind of grumpy according to her sister. Kosa suggests that she go find an old friend and take a break of sorts. However, Kosa is keeping a small secret of her own and things get complicated so fast. I really enjoyed this tale, but it wasn't so much of a legend like some of the others. While we do get to meet the original owners of the Inn, it feels much more modern. I loved the characters and hope that we get to see more of Jerina, Thane and Kosa.
I enjoyed this story and actually forgot it was a legends story up until the original owners of the Inn were introduced. The characters were great and the story easily kept me entertained. I loved that their were female warriors in this story. Jerina’s fierceness and determination to find her sister was great and Thane’s cocky humour made me laugh. I hope we get to see more of Jerina, Kota and Thane in future books.
Changing Fate (Legends of Havenwood Falls Book 13)
Changing Fate (Legends of Havenwood Falls Book 13) I absolutely loved 😍💗💖💞💕 each book. The characters and town are exceptionally written!!! I felt as if I was part of the story. I wish there was a town like this for real, would so love life!!! As a high school teacher, my students told me to read this series over summer so we can discuss this when they get back!!! I highly recommend these books for teens and adults. ❤️🔥🥰
Arc: Oh my gosh I absolutely loved everything about this novella. I loved the emotions involved and the way this unfolded. I loved how Thane and Jerina came together and the rescue that unfolded. I loved how this all unfolded and the way it kept me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely loved Char Webster’s writing style.
Another great addition to the Havenwood Falls world. I enjoyed the sweet romance as well as banter and tension between Jerina and Thane. The magic mixed with small town spots like the ice cream shop brought a comfort and plausibility to the story for me as well. As it’s shorter in length, the story felt a little rushed at times however, it makes for a quick, light read that is sure to please.
This felt more modern than "legends" but I still enjoyed it. The only thing that made this feel older was that we met the original owners of the Inn. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I am interested in looking into her other works!
It is so easy to become entranced with this story you have everything families, good guys, villains and of course supernatural beings you have magic and romance what more could you ask for except maybe a follow-up to this book.
I really loved jerina and thane's story. I loved how char did this book with a kick butt female lead. Plus the race that she chose. I can't wait to read more of Char's work. Great job.
