Ein weiterer Band in der Boundarylands Reihe, der mich überzeugt hat.
Auch wenn die Grundstory in dieser Reihe – Alpha meet’s Omega – immer gleich ist, gehen der Autorin einfach nie die Ideen aus und ich fühle mich immer wieder auf’s Neue überrascht und abgeholt.
Joycelyn stolpert auf der Flucht vor ihrem Boss, der ein Auftragskiller ist, in eine Gruppe käuflicher Mädchen, und schneller als sie schauen kann befindet sie sich mit ihnen in einem Auto auf dem Weg in die Boundarylands. Vor Evander’s Bar trifft sie dann auf Aric, der mehr als nur verärgert ist, als Joycelyn genau so plötzlich wieder verschwindet wie sie aufgetaucht ist. Als er dann Nachhause kommt und einen Eindringlich auf seinem Grundstück wahrnimmt, ist er mehr als nur freudig überrascht, als sich dieser als Joycelyn entpuppt, die schlafend in seinem Bett liegt. Was im Bett eines Alphas liegt, gehört ja schließlich ihm, oder nicht ……
Emily wiederum wird von ihrem aktuellen Alpha erniedrigt und misshandelt und als dieser mit ihr in Evander‘s Bar auftaucht, kann Cade nicht anders als sie zu retten und ihr zu beweisen, dass Alphas grundsätzlich aus einem vollkommen anderen Holz geschnitzt sind.
Und dann haben wir da noch Phoebe, deren Vater und Bruder als Schmuggler und Hehler ihr Brot verdienen. Bei einem missglückten Deal, indem Phoebe’s Vater versucht den Alpha Roman über’s Ohr zu hauen, wird sie zum Bauernopfer und muss „als Pfand“ bei Roman bleiben, bis ihre Familie die Schuld bei ihm beglichen hat.
Die Geschichten der einzelnen Paare selbst sind mir fast etwas zu kurz, aber trotz der Kürze der Stories schafft es die Autorin immer, dass eine Verbindung zu den handelnden Charakteren entsteht, was mir besonders wichtig ist. Ich mag alle drei Paare in diesem Buch sehr, aber müsste ich mich für einen Favoriten entscheiden, dann wäre es wohl Aric, wobei er mit Jocelyn nur eine Haaresbreite vor Roman und Phoebe liegt.
