"Desperation fuels resistance. Hope sparks rebellion." After foiling the plot behind the tunnel explosions, Flit and Scraps settle back into everyday life. For a short time, things get back to normal in the Underground. However, a surprising discovery and revelations about the weapon Flit found raise concerns within the Intelligence department. In hopes to get more information about the Government's plans, Flit and Scraps are sent to the Hub to investigate. As they settle into their undercover identities, Flit and Scraps finally have a chance to make a difference. With a bit of extra-curricular snooping and trademark rule-breaking, the pair uncover tantalising leads, make interesting new friends, and become embroiled in an incendiary plot to disrupt the Government's rule, right in the heart of its own capital city.

Always one to question authority, Liv prefers to write stories with fully fleshed out characters and immersive worlds. Her favourite aspect of writing is weaving a tale that makes the characters and readers question what they think they know about themselves and the world.
Central themes in Liv's work include never blindly accepting authority, finding the strength to stand up for what is right, and the power of the human spirit.
Liv's Review Guide When reviewing books, Liv aims to look for all of the strengths in the story. Instead of starting at 0 stars and adding more for things she likes, she starts at 5 and takes away stars for errors or things that are overlooked. Liv will not remove stars simply because a book is not one of her favourite genres. That is a matter of taste, not a reflection of the novel. If Liv believes a novel is a .5 rating, she always rounds up.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is fantastic. The characters, plot, and writing style are all well developed. There were no (or few) issues with editing, character development, or plot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐This is a great book, but there might have been some issues with either plot, character development, or editing that affected the overall reading or quality. ⭐⭐⭐ This is a good book, but there were errors in at least two categories (character development, editing, or plot). ⭐⭐There is potential in this book, but the plot, character development, and editing need more work. ⭐There hasn't been a single one of these yet. Hopefully there never will be.
This time they go undercover to The Hub in investigate the government.
Love the sci-fi action and the love story of Flit and Scraps two bold, strong characters together. Alternating chapters between both characters there's humour, banter and the group dynamics really work well together.
This one is really character driven which I love! There's just enough action and intrigue and Evans has done it again in The Hub well done!
I was anxious for Flit and Scraps to emerge above ground. The Underground introduced us to a community of interesting characters and a world centered around training, defense and precautions. While there was no shortage of intrigue and action, there was also no doubt our main characters were preparing for a greater challenge. The Hub doesn’t disappoint. Once again, Liv Evans paints a unique and vibrant setting where risky situations test our main characters.
After catching up with our familiar favorites from The Underground, the plot moves quickly, sweeping us up into a mission that reveals the difficulties of life as a Citizen. A new and diverse set of characters present hard choices for Flit and Scraps. I greatly appreciated the continuity of our main characters. Their strengths, weaknesses, beliefs and core personalities shine through. While I was never quite sure where the storyline was taking me, I knew I could count on both Flit and Scraps to live up to my expectations.
Flit is determined, daring and definitely a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kind of gal. She’s no stranger to ignoring orders for the sake of pursuing the path she believes in, no matter how dangerous. Her big heart sometimes gets her into trouble. Scraps is the perfect balance for volatile Flit. He is steady, strong and seldom gets rattled. Prioritizing discipline and order, he is sometimes frustrating in his refusal to bend yet true to his history.
In the words of Liv Evans: “He might have been in the Underground for a full year, but times like these made him feel further away from understanding it than ever.”
“He had learned that the reason Flit never listened to the others is because they were so quick to write her off. To get her to listen, you had to listen to her. ”
Flit and Scraps are opposites. Rather than make them incompatible, their differences make them the perfect complement for each other. They are stronger, better, more successful together. I had complete faith in their ability to handle the twists, turns and surprises that picked up momentum with every turn of the page. While The Hub is neither the beginning nor the end of the story, the author has provided a complete book, strong enough to stand on its own. That doesn't mean I wasn’t left wanting more. When provided with a book by Liv Evans, I always want more. My only complaint is that she doesn’t write quickly enough. Book three please!
Flit and Scraps are above ground this time and it is a wild ride! We only see glimpses of above ground life with Scraps early in The Underground and I feel that was more life like a Derivative. This time we get to see how the Citizens live their life. New characters are introduced, different problems arise and our characters need to decide between following what is the right thing to do and what they are ordered to do. Due to their personalities, Flit and Scraps are split on which course to take.
I love Scraps. He has lived most of his life following orders blinding rather than letting emotion dictate him. It has been a year since he has been under control, but it is a hard habit to break. He is a rule follower, full of logic and a people pleaser. I am glad the author has kept his character consistent. There are times he frustrates Flit and the reader, but you understand that clear fact and rules are all Scraps has ever known and he is still a little emotionally constipated. He hasn’t ever gotten to experience love, guilt and uncertainty.
On the other end here, Flit is the polar opposite that has only known emotion, rule breaking and fighting for what is right. They have a relationship that shouldn’t work and yet does. Scraps makes Flit stop and think rather than just blindly run into problems. Flit has Scraps throw out the rule book and think about what is best for the people. You see their relationship get tested time and time again and the characters change for the better together. They are such a solid couple and I love never having to doubt them.
There are some interesting twists that happen in this book, especially right at the end. I was frantically flipping pages trying to find out what is going to happen next. Some events I saw coming, others I did not. Overall, a wonderful second book! I find the world author Evans has created so interesting, edgy and cool. The ending has you desperately wishing there was at least one more chapter. Instead there is the eager wait for book three!
This was so good. The development of the characters moving on from the first book is so evident as they grow. And the new discoveries being made has really advanced the story in a great way. Flit and Scraps, though polar opposites, work together so well. They compliment each other and are able to work well because of their differences. And this is seen when they are above ground in dangerous territory.
Although that cliff hanger should be illegal. I cannot wait until the next one.
What an ending 🤯. I can’t believe I have to wait for book 3, I want it now. I really love the characters Liv has created in this dystopian world, they feel so real. I was completely engrossed from beginning to end. I highly recommended The Underground and The Hub.
I have just got to say – I LOVE Flit and Scraps!!!! They are my favorite ass-kicking, rule-breaking, save the world, fight the system with a lot of lovey-dovey duo. In this sequel to The Underground, Liv Evans doesn't disappoint. There is all the action, stressful and dangerous situations, crazy schemes I loved in the first book but it all ramps up a notch. I think that my heart-rate has permanently risen due to all the tense, nail-biting events in this story. The whole premise of these two characters being sent undercover in the Hub, to live and work, is so fraught with danger. I worried all the time that they would be caught. Add into that Flit's tendency to go against orders to just do her job – of course she can't, does Shadow even know her?
In this book, I feel that I got to know both these characters so much better and deeper. They continued on as the sensible, thoughtful, planner in Scraps and the spontaneous risk-taker in Flit, but both matured and found different aspects of themselves during these escapades. Their relationship developed and I fell more in love with them as a couple as well as their rebels with a cause personalities.
New characters are introduced and provide interesting dynamics to the story. The world of The Hub is far from that of the Underground and these characters illustrate that difference ideally.
Plot – exciting, full of anticipation and some surprises. The ending!!!!! OMG – NOOOOO!!! Thank goodness book 3 is on it's way! Pace – the first half is the settling in period for both Scraps and Flit, as well as the story and is steady. The second half is full on action, excitement and tension.
Characters – well-rounded, diverse, fascinating. Favourite characters (apart from our fab duo) Hawkeye. I warmed to him much more in this book than the first. There was much more to him, as his relationship with both Scraps and Flit developed and deepened. He was much more personable.
World Building – outstanding, I would love to live in The Hub (apart from the Government control thing and I am not a really capable IT type!!!). As I have already said, this world is poles apart from that of The Underground. The idea that everything is shiny and pristine on the surface, but underneath lies something sinister comes across clearly. I can absolutely imagine the glossy picture perfectness.
Overall – Loved, loved, loved it. I was going to keep my review short, but I can't rave enough about this book. If you like dystopian fantasy, packed with action, danger, excitement, tension and a bit of romance, you will love this too.
Good Grief! Just when I thought The Underground was amazing, Liv Evans smashes it out of the park with the sequel!! Wowsers! After reading The Underground, I immediacy fell in love the the vast and amazing cast of characters who live in secret beneath The Hub. To be honest I was equal parts sad that the setting of the second book wouldn't be based in The Underground, BUT! I was also curious and excited to discover life on the other side. What a nail-biting ride it was to follow along with Flit and Scraps during their mission to The Hub. Now, with the anticipation of the third instalment, I have a kind request... CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE FLIT'S GRENADES OFF HER?!?!? 😂😂😂 Thanks so much Liv Evans for once again gifting the world with an amazing book. Bring on book three!!
