Trecheon Omnir isn't happy with his life. His repair shop barely keeps him afloat, his family has abandoned him, and his experiences in war make it difficult to relate to others. So when his friend and fellow war veteran Neil Black offers him an out, he takes it without question. But Trecheon finds out too late that this "out" is actually an initiation into the world of assassins. Now he must overcome fear, deception, and guilt in order to turn this bad situation into something he can live with and become the profession's first White Assassin.

R. A. Meenan was born in London during the golden age of science fiction, but somehow time traveled to the Modern Era (some say a mad man with a blue box was involved). She was dropped on the doorstep of a house owned by anthropomorphic cats and though they were disappointed she didn't have furry ears and a tail, they took her in to teach her the ways of elemental magic. After setting fire to her furry cat friends' tails one too many times (final score - fire: 2612, cat's tails: 0) they called an exterminator and sent her out on her way.

Now an adult (physically, not mentally), she ride-hops intergalactic military spacecraft, combing the outer reaches of space and time, writing science fiction and urban fantasy stories based on her experiences. She's also hoping to find the perfect cup of coffee and a better way to grow dinosaurs. Humans kind of look at her funny, but she's managed to make herself an honorary ambassador for furry and anthropomorphic aliens and space dragons.

She carefully feeds and brushes her wonderful husband Joe and the pair have four furry children (which are really cats, but don't tell them that). She also spends her spare time teaching essay-writing haters, molding them into people resembling Actual Students and Lovers of English.

She may not win the hearts of stiff military men or students who want good grades for no effort, but she certainly captures the spirit and imagination of time travelers, magic users, nerds, Students-In-Training, and fantasy lovers.

This was a travesty to literature. Helen Keller is rolling in her grave with Anne Frank in the burning embers of Hell.

I somehow managed to get to page 2 of this atrocity. And I read the line, "Neil, I swear to almighty Draso if you call me that one more time, I'm going to punch a tracheotomy right through your throat."

Where else would you put a tracheotomy?

This is a great short story which manages to delve into the dubious morals of a hit man, definitely worth a read!

Excellent little story that manages to be bigger than the sum of its parts.

Trecheon's sort-of best friend is a hitman, and talks Trecheon into one last hit for big money. But the hit goes awry, and Trecheon finds himself in way over his head.

I'm not used to reading furry fiction, where the furries interact with humans and everybody is cool with this. But this story is well-written, and makes me wish for more books about Trecheon and his adventures.

Fans of The Zyearth Chronicles have a lot to enjoy in this short book featuring one of the series' main characters, though this reader found a handful of passages depicting cartoony banter off-putting. Disfigured and disillusioned following the cataclysmic final battle which ended his career as a soldier, auto mechanic Trecheon Omnir reluctantly becomes an assassin to protect his service buddy, the one friend he has left in the world. His emotional journey from toolhand to trigger man is sure to beg decidedly uncomfortable questions from readers: What is good? What is evil? How is one to know? And just who gets to decide one from the other? Trecheon must come to grips with their unsettling answers, a word for us all in these tumultuous times.
