The Holy Warriors' Commission: Sealing the Gate

How would you like to start your life over again—and make the ultimate difference this time?

Mara thought she was living a wasted life full of pain and suffering, but a surprising miracle from God gives her an opportunity to begin again. However, this second chance comes at a price. She and other Chosen ones must destroy the demons that have infiltrated the earth and caused sin and blasphemy to flourish. Mara and the others are quickly escorted to a covert military base where they must undergo rigorous training to prepare for this difficult venture.

She and her team have very daunting and dangerous tasks ahead of them—tasks that no normal human being should ever have to undertake. But God selected them specifically for this war, and they face formidable odds against a horrifying enemy.

As Mara’s team embarks on these harrowing adventures to exotic and dangerous locations, the Lord gives them unusual talents and they also receive assistance from surprising sources to aid them in their perilous battles.

Mara must balance romance, family conflict, and her own inner struggles as she trains for these missions. Can she and her fellow warriors successfully do God’s bidding, or will they fail in their commission and pay the ultimate price?

Christian fiction isn’t a genre with which I’m too familiar, but I believe it’s a useful discipline to read outside my comfort zone and get a feel of what’s produced there; which was a good experience on this occasion.

So we have Mara, returned to youth and beauty from age and infirmity, as part of a group of the Chosen of God, embarked on a crusade against the forces of evil and finding love on the way. There’s something for everyone here (unless you want graphic sex; there’s some going on amongst the baddies, but we are spared the gory details, mercifully). There’s good versus evil, as in the Chosen versus the Myrmidons, mysterious body markings explained, friends made and family found, the journeys and the battles (with some details of weaponry) plus the outcome; which you will have to find out for yourself.

Linear narratives can tend to drag in places – I did this, he did that – but that wasn’t the case here. Everything seemed to fit well, nothing seemed redundant, and that’s the way I like my reads. A page-turner for sure, and I got to the end relatively quickly; finding there that it is To be continued … . The good news is that Volume I doesn’t leave you on a cliff-hanger, almost forcing you to read Volume II eventually. It’s a book complete in itself, so it’s up to you whether you read the second book of not; although there is a small sampler of this at the end to tempt you in. A recommended read.

A friend recommended the Holy Warriors Commission by Tamara Maudelle, and I downloaded a copy. Let me begin by saying that the cover was excellent. Super professional and intriguing. Who would not want to read the first page with such a compelling cover?
The story is about Mara, a sickly individual who leads an average life. She passes away but is reborn as a powerful individual who battles evil. Before I go any further, this story takes a deep dive into religion, and this book is not for everybody. However, there is a critical distinction that needs some explanation. Many authors of this type of work go overboard and overwhelm the reader with religious quotes, guilt trips, conversion attempts, and the impression that they are a lothly individual if they do not follow the author’s message. Tamara avoided that pitfall and presented a balanced work that was not too heavy with religious messages.
Mara is tasked to be a fighter in a holy war, and during her spiritual battle, she meets her soulmate. A touching scene. Together with the help of family and friends, they overcome evil. Lots of noble action and dialog. I do not want to give away the ending, but it was fantastic. The best part of the book!
The characters are powerful, and story’s message is solid. This is a great read, and I enjoyed every page. I recommend this book to spiritual readers who wish to be inspired by righteous characters.

Mara since birth has always been poorly it literally controlled everything from her relationship with her Father, her work and relationships. Finally she gets a job with a lovely compassionate boss and that even ends up wrecked with her constant bouts of illness. Now at the age of 55 she has had to move in with her Mother. She dies and is reborn again into a much youthful body she is part of the chosen the almighty selected usually empaths. They all have psychic abilities and she meets Finn the love of her life. Her Brother Jonas and Aaron the brother who they never knew they had their mother had been told he was still born. They are given a fake new identity to pass the sniff test but each have a unique imprint on their arm.

They are given a mission to fight against evil as the chosen group. I also like the fact it touches on COVID 19 giving it a realistic view.

highly recommended a unique read 5 star

What a beautiful cover! It had me interested. Mara is such an interesting character, and it had me interested from the beginning until the end. The entire concept of the story was interesting for sure. How she was 55 years old...goes to sleep, and wakes up as a younger woman. Going through everything in the process. How also she is seen as an " elite" of 3. I love all the references to religion all throughout the story. I am not going to mention a lot due to me being afraid I am going to spoil. But readers out there if you are interested in Christian fiction together with romance then this is an amazing read. Well done!

This book was original in its storyline and a really enjoyable read. Satan has flourished and has started to influence the people on earth. Mara is disabled but has faith in God. She is in a diner one day and meets an old man who is dressed in old clothes and old shoes with a scruffy beard. she was directed to a cabin where she must sit tight for a few weeks, Mira asked the old man for directions, he told her she would know where to go. after the passing of a few weeks Mira is offered the opportunity to be strong and fit as a warrior of God, she agrees and the disability disappears, and so the story begins. A really good read and recommended

Oh to be young again!

When the Government are potentially introducing laws to remove religious freedom rights under threat of life imprisonment for anyone worshiping God, the 'chosen ones' are summoned to stop them and rid the world of evil. With a variety of abilities and God's guidence, battles are fought and hidden secrets uncovered. A creative storyline from this talented author throws you into the world of good verses evil but with plenty of action, romance and love for family, friends and a special little girl. A well written book that keeps you engrossed from the start and praying alongside the characters that all will turn out great in the end. Brilliant read!

A great read!

I enjoyed this book from the very beginning until the very last page. The story takes you on a roller-coaster of emotions and it has it own twist a turns. Mara is a woman that is riddled with illness before you dies and is then born again to fight a holy war for the man upstairs. She meets her soul mate Finn and prevail against evil with the help of her family and team members.
A great storyline and the characters have been thoroughly thought out which made me connect to them even easier. I look forward to reading book two.

This book is cool

First of all, Tamara writes very well. I like the storyline. The writing style is pretty good. There were a few words like, kidded, that threw me off. But depending on our demographic, our speech patterns often sneak through our writing. It didn't take away from the story I would have liked to see more showing and less telling. The book would really shine if it were fleshed out by feelings and input from the senses during the action sequences. All in all, this was a pretty boss story. Good job.

A great read

A moving spiritual fantasy story with an interesting turn on the genre. There are hardly any book like these. I really enjoyed the mash up and loved Mara.

I liked the fact the when Mara is given a second chance to live by the blessing of God she and others like them use it so well. There is no unnecessary violence or action which was a breeze for me. It's riveting to read such books and know that there is so much good that can be done.

a great young adult story

A well written and original and intriguing storyline. A great mixture of romance and adventure, with a little religion thrown into the mix. Making this a great young adult novel. I could easily see it as a Netflix series and expect to see more books in the series.

Amazing!

A great YA tale for Christians and non-christians alike. As the latter, who grew up the former, I find the balance between faith playing a part in this book but not overwhelming the story a breath of fresh air for all readers from all walks in life. Beautiful story-telling and an enthralling plot sucks you in and keeps you going.

A great read!

The Holy Warriors’ Commission started out and I was not quite sure if it was going to fall into my kind of book. I am happy I kept reading because as the book progressed, it blew me away! Maudelle has a talent for laying groundwork for beautiful scenes and then delivers.

I enjoyed how faith, belief, and the tangible intertwine in a suspenseful and fulfilling tail.

Do yourself a favor and read this book!
