Some nuggets of gold in a mine of airy-fairy progressive ideas

There are some good chapters in this book, but overall it didn’t really enlightenment me in terms of being and English teacher. It did not provide me with any information, practical or theoretical, that I could use to improve my practice.

It took me a while to finish this, as it is a one-chapter-per-day kind of read. I wanted to read this book before I started the teaching programme, as I find that academic books go in one ear and out the other. By reading this book before the course, then engaging with it again during the school year as I engage with different types of teaching experiences, I think I will gain much more out of it. It is a well-written book with many practical suggestions, meaning I will return to it again and again.
