Where’s DJ?A question that torments Tracy Allen. If she hadn’t slept in, her son would be safe. Only one person could be responsible. Her soon to be ex. But when he’s murdered, and DJ’s still not found, she knows something more sinister is going on than a custody battle. A mother should keep her child safe. But she didn’t. And now the same question slams into her soul over and over again. Where’s DJ?
Tracy Allen is in the middle of a contentious divorce and custody hearing over her son, DJ, who is 7 years old.
This particular morning she overslept and her soon to be ex would be there at any minute to pick up his son. Only DJ isn't in his room .. he's not even in the house.
Where is DJ?
Hours go by and after contacting all their friends and neighbors, police are called. Tracy is sure that her husband is behind this .. but her husband thinks she's behind it in order to keep him from getting custody,
Who has DJ?
The police have a long list of possible suspects .... Tracy's sister who thinks of DJ as her own .... her Congressman husband who adamantly does not want the police involved ....Tracy's husband and /or his stripper girlfriend.
When Tracy's husband is found dead it becomes a brand new ballgame.
Why did someone take DJ?
I have read several of this author's books and never been disappointed. This is a well written psychological drama presenting a parent's worst nightmare. The story premise is a good one, although the reader learns early on the Who ..... the Why and Where is what kept me glued to this riveting tale.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this Psychological Fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Tracy Allen is a woman whose husband Daniel has cheated on her with a younger woman and is going through a divorce and custody fight for their 7 year old son DJ. When Daniel comes to pick up DJ for a weekend visit, Tracy discovers Daniel is missing and the search for him begins. After several hours, Tracy calls the police against Daniel’s wishes and the nightmare that DJ has been kidnapped finally dawns on them. Though she suspects Daniel of staging the kidnapping by having his girlfriend Kimi take DJ, the reality is far worse than she suspects. I recommend this book.
A good read if y9u ignored a cast of thoroughly unlikable characters a major problem with continuity of the plot. Tracey's cell phone is stolen from her in one chapter, then she takes a photo with her cell the next morning to send to her lawyer, then the police return her cell to her when she leaves the police station. How does that work? Also Tommy steals jewellery from the cabin, who leaves jewellery at a holiday cabin? Myrna was a thoroughly nasty old character who deserved precisely nothing.
This was the first book I have read of Kathryn J. Bain and it didn't disappoint. DJ's mother over sleeps on the day his dad is to pick him up. Instead, The seven year old boy ends up going missing. So many twist and turns. I couldn't stop reading it from the start. I hope to read more from this author soon. I receive a free advanced copy and give this review willingly.
Total dud. Very amateurish plot with very amateurish storytelling and dull flat writing. Shallow cliched characters, zero suspense since every single thing is spelled out plain and simply. Zero surprises or twists. The Myrna chapters were super super obvious...duh. Predictable and obvious and cliched ending. Total snorefest.
Her son is gone - and she knows he would never leave when his father is coming to get him. Nobody can find him. NOBODY. And when they realize how much yucky stuff the father is involved it, she is even more scared!!! THIS BOOK WILL REALLY GRAB YOU AND YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
This was a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat suspense, twists and turns. The storyline and the characters were very interesting. This book is recommended for those who love suspense.
Excellent book from a great writer. Her storylines are believable, which is very important to me. I have read over 140 books so far this year and very very few books rate a 5. Definitely going to read another book by this author.
