La Puercoespin de Adelina

Rate this book
["How you look, little one, cannot measure your worth. In your heart you're the loveliest creature on earth." Can Adeline Addison's true, loving words soothe the spirit of her sweet porcupine, Grace? A mean brat pack of city pets, led by a snooty poodle, is jeering at Grace. They can't see all the prettiness and goodness behind Grace's sharp-quilled coat. But Adeline knows compassion will win them over, because a heart of gold can only shine brightly. Follow Adeline, the girl with the strawberry curls, and Grace, her porcupine, in this charming tale of how to love yourself and others - no matter what!]

This was a gift for my young niece and became an instant favorite. According to my sister it had to be read EVERY night. Yes - it was one of those...

I gave it to her in 2004, when it was hot off the presses along with the companion book. Of course she is a teenager now, but these two books are now sealed in plastic and my niece has decreed that she will hand them down to any children she might have.

That is about as high a recommendation as I have ever heard!

My kids love this book and its gentle teaching on self-worth in the face of verbal bullying. The bullied porcupine uses kindness to reach the bully.
