Sagara Sousuke isn't your typical high school student. He reads military enthusiast magazines; he responds to questions with "affirmative;" he brings grenades to school in his bag. Though everyone at school takes him for a hopeless military geek, Chidori Kaname thinks there might be something more to him. When their plane is hijacked in the middle of a field trip, Kaname's instincts will prove correct: Sousuke is an elite, mech-piloting mercenary... and he's here to protect her!
Shoji Gatoh ( 賀東招二), born on July 11, 1971, is a Japanese author from Shiga Prefecture, Japan. He is best known for the creation of the Full Metal Panic! series that included light novels, manga and anime. He is not only an author but also an anime scenarist, for example "The Day of Sagittarius" of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and three episodes of Lucky Star.
I know that this is the source material for Fumoffu (second season of the series) and I still remember some episodes but I don't know if they did it chronologically (from this).
Nevertheless, it was a light and enjoyable read amidst all the slapstick comedy I remember. And there's a bonus story that was so out of this world it was funny in its premise.
One thing I would have wanted was to see Sousuke's inner thoughts. It wasn't in Fumoffu so I thought we'd get some snippets here like in the first light novel. But his expressions in the anime were definitely a better indication of his thoughts.
It makes me so happy every time I remember that Sousuke and Kaname started off like this and remembering Invisible Victory. Still, hoping for a season 5.
If an individual have been following all the 'Full Metal Panic' animations, most of the contents in this novel have been covered in the 'Full Metal Panic Fumoffu' Anime series. This is an easy book that one can run through quickly, or take a break in between the chapters. Reason being, unlike the main story-line, all these stories run as a side story to the main novel. Even though some of these side stories are considered standalone, but actually they some of them act as a base for some of the upcoming side stories too...
