Surrealismo en la poesia de Xavier Villaurrutia, Octavio Paz, y Luis Cernuda. Mexico 1926-1963

Rate this book
In this fine study, Olivia Maciel Edelman turns to surrealism as an international avant-garde movenment, which was creatively appropriated and used in Mexico from early on. The author studies three of Mexico's greatest poets that have not commonly been associated with surrealism, Xavier Villaurrutia, because he was a part of the Contemporaneos group of Mexican avant-garde poets, Octavio Paz, because he became known as a master mind of his own and Luis Cernuda, a member of the 1927 generation of Spanish poets. The three, as Maciel Edelman establishes convincingly, visited closely the surrealist notions of dream, myth, metaphor and collage.
