I'm a bit late to this party... but my excuse was that I'd been living abroad:
This is a world apart from the previous 2002 Guide... which was one of the most frustrating and ugliest climbing guides I can think of (... for Stanage of all places!), except for the David A' Sandstone Guide which holds a special place as being an excellent example of what not to do... in every way.

I sympathise for Chris C and the 2002 guide; lots of good ground work was done but it would have been better left as a database. Thankfully the hard work was not wasted and this guide builds on and embellishes the previous work doing, justice to everything that is great about British Climbing guides:

Sensibly organised (climbings sorted L to R!), informative, literary, witty, pithy, fun, inspiring, terrifying, friendly, comfortable, useful, durable, portable, comprehensive.

Including bouldering is a welcome step forward, photo topo's good (and essential in this age), Contributors' lists, suggested circuits, collections and challenges. Some grade creep but also plenty of down grade corrections too. This is a guide that the enthusiastic climber can treat as a bible; dedicating their life to completing their own missions as required.

If you love the dark peak get this.
(I didn't actually read this cover to cover; merely transferred my all-important ticks... reading a few sections as I went.... 'so much here to read and explore.)
