Personally I liked the book, but i read it as a bed time story to my nieces. I feel like the book didnt completely capture their attention. I also feel like talking about hanging in this book was a little excessive. One man haman didnt like this jew and his friends agreed about this dislike and replied, "You should get rid of Mordecau.... and have Mordecai hanged." (Mackenzie 17) I did like how this was immediately countered with, hanging is bad. This book really did focus on the positives however, and I liked how the message was super clear, no matter how crazy or bad things seem to be God will always be there looking out for you and already have a solution in place before the problem even begins.

As Bible picture books go, this one was fairly decent. I really appreciate the way the author kept strictly to the Biblical account. So that it would not be too gory for a very young audience, she did omit some of the details about the Jew's triumph at the end, but she makes it clear that God did punish those that sought their death.
On a purely literary point, the insertion of lessons and applications throughout the story was a little distracting. I would have liked it better if those paragraphs were either kept till the end of the story or set maybe in a sperate text box. They were good lessons, but they interrupted the flow of the Biblical story.
