Infinite Earths: End's Beginning

Rate this book
Gabrielle is the daughter of multibillionaires. All should be perfect for a girl like her, but she barely knows her parents, her only friend is her uncle and studying alone is what she does most. Only the dreary possibility of law school offers a way out of her monotonous life.

All changes one night when an earthquake hits - killing everyone for miles except her and her insufferable neighbour, Noah. Now, Gabrielle must cooperate with him to reach New York, where her brilliant Uncle Andy might be able to help them. But the journey is drastically derailed, as the pair have a dangerous encounter with zombie-like creatures and are rescued by the mysterious, planet-saving 'POPE', battling a parallel world that desires Earth's demise. Before they know it, stopping the apocalypse is also up to Gabrielle and Noah. If they slip up, everything's over.

However, Andy is more entangled in the ordeal than once believed. What's truly going on? Can these new allies be trusted?

This is not my normal genre but I did really enjoy it. There are some incredibly insightful parts of the book with regards to self knowledge and perspective.

My only reason for not giving it five stars is that I would have loved more description of the places and action to enable me as the reader to visualise it in my mind, I found myself having to re-read parts of the narrative as I thought I had skipped details on the action. There is a lot of conversation between the characters and in some parts it lacked pace and in others where the action was intense towards the end of the book I would have loved more detail so that I could really get more fully invested in the characters and the action.

For a writers first book this is truly phenomenal and just shows the huge potential of this writer, I can easily see this developing into a highly successful series.

I loved this book so much!! The writing was incredible, the characters were very interesting and had very well though backstories and the plot was very surprising. All in all, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story to be hooked on from beginning to end. Very remarkable accomplishment for just a 13 year old!!
