A mysterious mansion, an island lost in the fog… And a wedding filled with recycled decor.
Jessica Braun is leaving her thrift store in her teen neighbor’s care and heading to Lake Superior for the weekend. Even a trip down memory lane with her ex-husband can’t ruin this Fourth of July.
Until tragedy strikes the happy couple, and the bridge is closed—trapping Jess and the other guests on the island with a murderer.
How will Jess work through the clues, and her past, before the coming storm?
To all of you fans who gave this book high ratings...please forgive me. It had several things going against it for me...1. I had not read the first 2 books in the series so I had no background with the characters 2. I listened to the virtual voice edition of the book on Audible so it was difficult to get into the reader's voice and 3. I literally picked the book because I was looking for the use of the word "kitsch" somewhere in the book. So...I promise that at some point I will go back and start with book 1 and hopefully be able to give the series a better review.
Another fun adventure and this time Jess had to make sure her mom’s cousin didn’t go down for murder. I think Jess finally got her closure when Charlie her ex was a wedding guest too. Uncle Rick always cracks me up and I think he gets a kick out of sleuthing. Jess and Charlie made a decent sleuth duo since they were basically thrown together.
And what a great showdown, you’ll see when you read it. I can’t wait to borrow the next in KU.
This was an interesting book. Almost impossible to figure our who was the murderer was - surprise ending.

Jessica Braun inherited her aunt's kitschy house and contents and has opened a second-hand shop to get rid of some of the stuff. Her uncle and her neighbor help her run the shop and solve the mysteries. In this one, Jessica and her family attend a wedding, and end up solving the double murders. And what the heck is up with Joe Benson, Mr. Sexy Soup Guy?
A family wedding on a remote island in a huge old mansion full of snobby rich people and one murderer. How else would Jess want to spend a weekend but by solving another murder.
Jessica, Cheryl, and Uncle Rick head to a small, private island for Cousin Susan's wedding. Encounters with her ex-husband, the hunky chef, a house full of snobs, and a murder turn "I do" into "who did it."
This is a great turn of events for the latest book in this series. It's a great callback to murder mysteries of the past. A family affair at an o.d mansion that turns deadly after a murder, plenty of suspects and interesting side characters.
Wow, Jess had her hands full in this story ! First her Mom's mess coming to her and the boyfriend being missing. Thinking about some time to rest she falls into more suspense and intrigue . Loved all the twists and turns of this mystery .
This series was really enjoyable, you know. So cozy and funny and etc etc, you name it haha.. It's all good things. It's some kind of stories you would want to read to escape and travel through time.
Only, the pacing in this particular book felt a bit slower to me than the others, but it's still enjoyable.
This series also taught me about taking it slow in life. Yes, maybe your past plans and the future you hoped for isn't really what it is, but there are other things you haven't stumbled on and it could be good things.
I love Mel Morgan’s ability to make a story that keeps your attention to the very end. Jessica is in another mysterious murder. This time as she prepares for a wedding. Fun to read. Highly recommend.
Great book!! This was a great addition to this series. I loved the wedding. I was surprised who was the killer and who was killed. Was not expecting the the turn of events. I am enjoying this series.
